Mohan Koirala
Mohan Koirala ( ne, मोहन कोइराला; 1926–2007) was a Nepalese poet, known for his prose poems and poems against the Rana regime. Some of this poems has been translated in English. He won Madan Puraskar in 2038 BS (c. 1981 AD). Biography Mohan Koirala was born in Kathmandu on 26 November 1926 (11 Mangshir 1983 BS). Due to his father's economic conditions, Koirala had to skip college education before completion. He worked on various jobs around Nepal such as schoolmaster in Hetauda or as a transport corporation officer in Kathmandu. His first poem is ''Jada Jadai'' which was published in 1953. From 1974 to 1979 he was made vice-chancellor of the Royal Nepal Academy for his contribution to the Nepali literature. Mohan Koiralaka Kavita
''Mohan Koiralaka Kavita'' () is an anthology of poems by Mohan Koirala. It was published in 1973 (2030 BS) by Sajha Publications. The poet is renowned for his long poems and introducing experimental and modernist style in Nepali literature. The book was edited by Dr. Ishwar Baral. Koirala won the Sajha Puraskar for this book. Synopsis The book contained all the poems of the poet published in various journals and newspaper between 1953 and 1971. ''Pharsiko Jhara'', ''Lek'', ''Surya Dan'', ''Himchuli Raktim Cha'' are some of the poems included in this anthology. Reception The book won the prestigious Sajha Puraskar for 2030 BS (). The award is given every year to the best book published by the publication within that year. The poet also started getting national recogintion after publishing this book. Nepali-language Poets
Nepali (; , ) is an Indo-Aryan language native to the Himalayas region of South Asia. It is the official, and most widely spoken, language of Nepal, where it also serves as a ''lingua franca''. Nepali has official status in the Indian state of Sikkim and in the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration of West Bengal. It is spoken by about a quarter of Bhutan's population. Laxmi Prasad Devkota ( ne, लक्ष्मीप्रसाद देवकोटा) (1909-1959) was a Nepali poet, playwright, and novelist. Honored with the title of Mahakabi ( ne, माहाकवि) in Nepali literature, he was known as a poet with a golden heart. He is considered to be the greatest and most famous literary figure in Nepal. Bhupi Sherchan
Bhupendra Man Sherchan, popularly known as Bhupi Sherchan (1937-1989) was a Nepali poet and academician. He is one of the most beloved and widely read Nepali poets. He was awarded the Sajha Puraskar for his 1969 poetry collection '' Ghumne Mech Mathi Andho Manche'', which remains his most popular work. Early life and education Sherchan was born on 27 December 1937 (12 Poush 1992 BS) in Tukuche, Mustang district in an affluent Thakali family to father Subba Hit Man Sherchan and mother Padma Kumari Sherchan. He was their fifth child. The Madan Puraskar ( ne, मदन पुरस्कार) is a literary honor in Nepal which Madan Puraskar Guthi confers annually for an outstanding book in the Nepali language published within the calendar year. It is considered the most prestigious literature award in Nepal. It is awarded on the day of Ghatasthapana every year alongside Jagadamba Shree Puraskar. History The award was established by daughter in law of Prime Minister Chandra Shumsher JBR, Queen Jagadamba Kumari Devi, in memory of her husband late General Madan Shumsher JBR, on 26 September 1955. Nadi Kinarko Majhi
Nadi (pronounced ) is the third-largest conurbation in Fiji. It is located on the western side of the main island of Viti Levu, and had a population of 42,284 at the most recent census, in 2007. A 2012 estimate showed that the population had grown to over 50,000. Nadi is multiracial with many of its inhabitants Asians, Indian or Indigenous Fijians, along with a large transient population of foreign tourists.
