Mohammed Shabir
Mohammed Shabir ( ar, محمد شبير; 28 March 1946 – 14 November 2023) was a Palestinian politician and academic who served as president of the Islamic University of Gaza from 1990 to 2005. He was the Prime Minister-in-waiting for the National Unity Government 2007. Senior Hamas officials announced that Hamas and Fatah had agreed on him on 13 November 2006. Shabir, however, did not become Prime Minister. Salam Fayyad became Prime Minister when Hamas took over Gaza, in 2007. Considered close to both Hamas and Fatah, Shabir frequently visited the late Yasser Arafat in his West Bank and Gaza Strip headquarters. Personal life Shabir was originally from Khan Yunis and received his doctorate in microbiology from Marshall University. He had six children. His wife served as deputy minister of women's affairs. Khan Yunis
Khan Yunis ( ar, خان يونس, also spelled Khan Younis or Khan Yunus; translation: ''Caravansary fJonah'') is a city in the southern Gaza Strip. 2023 Israel–Hamas War
} The ongoing armed conflict between Hamas-led Palestinian militant groups and Israel military forces began on 7 October 2023, 50 years after the start of the 1973 Yom Kippur War. An academy (Attic Greek: Ἀκαδήμεια; Koine Greek Ἀκαδημία) is an institution of secondary or tertiary higher learning (and generally also research or honorary membership). The name traces back to Plato's school of philosophy, founded approximately 385 BC at Akademia, a sanctuary of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and skill, north of Athens, Greece. Etymology The word comes from the ''Academy'' in ancient Greece, which derives from the Athenian hero, ''Akademos''. Outside the city walls of Athens, the gymnasium was made famous by Plato as a center of learning.
