Modrany
Modrany ( hu, Madar, Hungarian pronunciation:) is a village and municipality in the Komárno District in the Nitra Region of south-west Slovakia. Geography The village lies at an altitude of 131 meters and covers an area of 27.066 km2. It has a population of about 1460 people. The village lies in the center of a small valley centered on a small brook that runs through the village. One hill of the valley is covered by a sunflower field. Over the other is the further section of the village, with the village vineyards. History In the 9th century, the territory of Modrany became part of the Kingdom of Hungary. In history, historical records the village was first mentioned in 1205. After the Austro-Hungarian army disintegrated in November 1918, Czechoslovakia, Czechoslovak troops occupied the area, later acknowledged internationally by the Treaty of Trianon. Vltava ( , ; german: Moldau ) is the longest river in the Czech Republic, running southeast along the Bohemian Forest and then north across Bohemia, through Český Krumlov, České Budějovice and Prague, and finally merging with the Labe at Mělník.
