Modern Short Stories
Modern Short Stories is a Pittsburgh-based "media label" founded by Steve Soboslai and Chris Fafalios of the Pittsburgh pop punk band Punchline and friend Amanda Yu. Its slogan is "Every song is a modern short story." History Creation Modern Short Stories was created during summer 2008 in the fall-out of Punchline's departure from Fueled by Ramen Records. Between 2003 and early 2008, Fueled by Ramen released two full-length Punchline albums (2004's Action and 2006's 37 Everywhere), as well as a re-release of 2002's The Rewind EP. During this time, a number of their then-labelmates (Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, The Academy Is..., The Hush Sound, etc.) were becoming hugely popular, and Punchline became less prominent in the Fueled by Ramen lineup. Steve Soboslai
Steve Soboslai (born October 30, 1980) is an American singer/songwriter. He is the lead singer and guitarist of the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based pop punk band Punchline. Soboslai has produced several records for various artists including Nightbeast (Thriving Records), Barely Blind (TDR Records), The Drama Summer ( Eulogy Records), and ThirtySeven. He appears on Bayside's 2005 self-titled release, singing back up vocals on the song "They Looked Like Strong Hands." Soboslai's also lent his vocal talent to the song "What a Waste of Time" for the Spontaneo album "For Those Who Can Whistle," as well as on the 2008 album "Columbus" by Andrew Dost of the band fun. He portrayed the villain in 6 songs on "Columbus." In the summer of 2008, Soboslai and company started a record label called Modern Short Stories. The Academy Is
The Academy Is... is an American rock band from Chicago, Illinois, formed in 2003. Before disbanding, they were signed by the Decaydance imprint of the Fueled by Ramen label. They were originally known as "The Academy", but added the "Is..." in 2004 to avoid legal complications with other established bands already under that name. The band released three studio albums, '' Almost Here'', ''Santi'', and ''Fast Times at Barrington High'', and four EPs. The band announced their disbandment on October 8, 2011. In May 2015, lead singer William Beckett announced that the band would reunite at Riot Fest 2015 in Chicago. In addition the core members of the band Beckett, Mike Carden, Adam Siska, and Andy Mrotek, as well as Jamie Reed Schefman and Ian Crawford (both of whom had not originally been part of the band), reunited for a farewell tour that took place during December 2015. The groundhog (''Marmota monax''), also known as a woodchuck, is a rodent of the family Sciuridae, belonging to the group of large ground squirrels known as marmots. The groundhog is a lowland creature of North America; it is found through much of the Eastern United States, across Canada and into Alaska. It was first scientifically described by Carl Linnaeus in 1758. Punchline is an American rock band from Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, United States, that was formed in 1998. The band released its seventh full-length album, '' Thrilled'', on December 4, 2015, on InVogue Records. History 1998-2002: early years Punchline was formed in 1997 as a three-piece band consisting of Steve Soboslai (lead vocals, guitar), Chris Fafalios (bass guitar) PJ Caruso (drums). At the time, Fafalios was a senior in high school and Caruso and Soboslai were juniors. They played local shows and recorded their first album, '' How to Get Kicked Out of the Mall'', a blend of pop- and ska-influenced punk. In later recordings, the ska influence became less prominent. In 1999, the band self-produced and self-released the full-length ''Punchline'' album. The Hush Sound
The Hush Sound is an American indie pop band from Chicago, Illinois, United States. Initially named "The Hush," the band later changed its name to "The Hush Sound" due to the discovery of a rapper with the same name. The band consists of Bob Morris (vocals and guitar), Chris Faller (bass guitar and vocals), Darren Wilson (drums, percussion and vocals), and Greta Salpeter (vocals and piano). Mike Leblanc (bass guitar) temporarily replaced Faller after he left the band for a few months in 2008 . Panic! At The Disco
Panic! at the Disco is the solo project of American musician Brendon Urie. It was originally a pop rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada, formed in 2004 by childhood friends Urie, Ryan Ross, Spencer Smith, and Brent Wilson. They recorded their first demos while they were in high school. Shortly after, the band recorded and released their debut studio album, ''A Fever You Can't Sweat Out'' (2005). Popularized by the second single, "I Write Sins Not Tragedies", the album was certified triple platinum in the US.
