Mobile DTV Alliance
The Mobile DTV Alliance is a marketing organization based in San Ramon, California that was founded in 2006 by a consortium of companies to promote open standards for mobile TV. Its goal is the rapid adoption of mobile TV technology via DVB-H and to further the mobile TV experience in North America. The President of the Mobile DTV Alliance, Yoram Solomon, is also on the boards of the WiMedia Alliance and Wi-Fi Alliance. San Ramon, California
San Ramon (Spanish: ''San Ramón'', meaning "St. Raymond") is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States, located within the San Ramon Valley, and east of San Francisco. Mobile television is television watched on a small handheld or mobile device. It includes service delivered via mobile phone networks, received free-to-air via terrestrial television stations, or via satellite broadcast. DVB-H
DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcasting - Handheld) is one of three prevalent mobile TV formats. It is a technical specification for bringing broadcast services to mobile handsets. DVB-H was formally adopted as ETSI standard EN 302 304 in November 2004. The DVB-H specification (EN 302 304) can be downloaded from the official DVB-H website. From March 2008, DVB-H is officially endorsed by the European Union as the "preferred technology for terrestrial mobile broadcasting". The WiMedia Alliance was a non-profit industry trade group that promoted the adoption, regulation, standardization and multi-vendor interoperability of ultra-wideband (UWB) technologies.
