Mobile BayBears
The Mobile BayBears were a Minor League Baseball team based in Mobile, Alabama, United States. The team, which played in the Southern League, served as the Double-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres (1997–2006), Arizona Diamondbacks (2007–2016), and Los Angeles Angels (2017–2019). The BayBears played in Hank Aaron Stadium, which opened in 1997 and is named after baseball's former all-time home run king and Mobile native Hank Aaron. In 2020, the BayBears relocated to Madison, Alabama, where they are now called the Rocket City Trash Pandas. History The BayBears franchise originated in 1976 in Charlotte, North Carolina, first as the Charlotte Orioles and then as the first incarnation of the Charlotte Knights. Nashville Xpress
The Nashville Xpress were a Minor League Baseball team of the Southern League and the Double-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins from 1993 to 1994. They were located in Nashville, Tennessee, and played their home games at Herschel Greer Stadium, sharing the ballpark with the Triple-A Nashville Sounds of the American Association. The Xpress were named for the trains which ran along tracks beyond the outfield wall and the team's sudden arrival and expected departure. Formerly known as the Charlotte Knights, the Xpress were formed after the 1992 season when Charlotte, North Carolina, acquired a Triple-A expansion team in the International League, leaving the Southern League franchise in need of a new home. Wiklenman Vicente González [Wiki] (born May 17, 1974) is a former Venezuelan catcher in Major League Baseball who played for the San Diego Padres, Seattle Mariners and Washington Nationals in parts of seven seasons spanning 1999–2006. Brian Tollberg
Brian Patrick Tollberg (born September 16, 1972) is a former starting pitcher in Major League Baseball who played from 2000 through 2003 for the San Diego Padres. Listed at 6' 3", 195 lb., Tollberg batted and threw right handed, He was born in Tampa, Florida. Tollberg began his professional career in 1994 with the Chillicothe Paints of the independent Frontier League before signing as a free agent with the Milwaukee Brewers a year later. He then was traded by Milwaukee to San Diego in 1997, and made it to the majors in June 2000 with the Padres. Kevin Nicholson (baseball)
Kevin Ronald Nicholson (born March 29, 1976) is a Canadian former professional baseball shortstop. He played part of the season for the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball, and for the Canadian Olympic baseball team in 2004. Career Nicholson was drafted by the California Angels in the 43rd round (1182nd overall) of the 1994 MLB draft, but did not sign, choosing instead to attend Stetson University, where he played college baseball under head coach Pete Dunn. In 1996, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod Baseball League, and was named the league's MVP. In 1997, he was named conference Player of the Year. Matthew Paul Clement (born August 12, 1974) is a former Major League Baseball starting pitcher. Clement played for the San Diego Padres (–), Florida Marlins (), Chicago Cubs (–) and Boston Red Sox (–). While on the Red Sox active roster, he was injured all of the 2007 season. He batted and threw right-handed. Clement had a sinking fastball in the low 90s and a hard slider he mixed with a four-seamer and a changeup.
