Mncedisi Lutando Wellington Filtane (died 22 November 2020) was a South African politician who served as a Member of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature from 2019 to 2020. Filtane was a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa between 2014 and 2019. Filtane was also the deputy national chairperson of the United Democratic Movement. Parliamentary career In 2014, Filtane was elected to the National Assembly via the United Democratic Movement's regional list. He was sworn in as a Member of Parliament on 21 May 2014. Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature
The Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature is the primary legislative body of the South African province of Eastern Cape. It is unicameral in its composition, and elects the premier and the provincial cabinet from among the members of the leading party or coalition in the parliament. Powers The Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature elects the Premier of the Eastern Cape and can force the Premier to resign by passing a motion of no confidence. Even though the Executive Council of the province is appointed by the Premier, the legislature can pass a motion of no confidence forcing the Premier to reconfigure the Council. The provincial legislature also designates that Eastern Cape's delegates to the National Council of Provinces, assigning delegates to parties in proportion to the total number of seats each party holds in the legislature. Loyiso Mpumlwana
Loyiso Khanyisa Bunye Mpumlwana (died 23 December 2020) was a South African politician and advocate. A member of the African National Congress, he was elected to the National Assembly in 2014. He served until the 2019 election, when he lost his seat. In 2020, he was elected to return to the assembly. Career Mpumlwana was an African National Congress underground operative during apartheid. He worked closely with Jeff Radebe and Mazwi Yako. Mpumlwana later practised as an advocate. Bantubonke Harrington Holomisa (born 25 July 1955) is a South African Member of Parliament and President of the United Democratic Movement. Holomisa was born in Mqanduli, Cape Province. He joined the Transkei Defence Force in 1976 and had become a brigadier by 1985. Holomisa forced the resignation and exile of Prime Minister of Transkei George Matanzima in October 1987 and overthrew Matanzima's successor, Prime Minister Stella Sigcau in a bloodless coup d'état in December 1987. Holomisa then became the head of government of Transkei from 1987 to 1994, upon which Transkei was reintegrated into the "new" South Africa and Holomisa joined the African National Congress (ANC).
