Mittermeier's Mouse Lemur
Mittermeier's mouse lemur (''Microcebus mittermeieri'') is a species of mouse lemur known only from Anjanaharibe-Sud Special Reserve in Madagascar. Mittermeier's mouse lemur is one of the smallest mouse lemurs, but is larger than Madame Berthe's mouse lemur, the smallest member of not only cheirogaleid family, but of all Primates. According to Schwitzer ''et al.'', length of head and body is about 8 cm and the tail reaches about 12 cm. The weight is about 46 g. On the face, between the eyes, white spot can be observed, it is present in every ''Microcebus'' species. An area under it is yellow, which color reaches to ventral part of neck. Rest of the head is red-bronze to rusty, the same as the dorsum, contrary to the ventral part of the truncus, which is whitish brown. Mouse Lemur
The mouse lemurs are nocturnal lemurs of the genus ''Microcebus''. Like all lemurs, mouse lemurs are native to Madagascar. Mouse lemurs have a combined head, body and tail length of less than , making them the smallest primates (the smallest species being Madame Berthe's mouse lemur); however, their weight fluctuates in response to daylight duration. Lemurs and mouse lemurs were announced by the IUCN as the most endangered of all vertebrates. There were two known mouse lemur species in 1992; by 2016, there were 24. Anjanaharibe-Sud Reserve
Anjanaharibe-Sud Special Reserve is a wildlife reserve in the north-east of Madagascar. The reserve was designated in 1958 and contains some of the last intact primary rainforest, along with several, rare and endemic animals and plants. The area was nominated to the UNESCO Tentative List of World Heritage Sites in Madagascar in 2008, as an extension of the rainforests of the Atsinanana. Geography The special reserve of Anjanahraibe-Sud is located in the Sava Region in north-eastern Madagascar, some south-west of the village of Andapa. Madame Berthe's mouse lemur (''Microcebus berthae'') or Berthe's mouse lemur is the smallest of the mouse lemurs and the smallest primate in the world; the average body length is and seasonal weight is around . Simmons' Mouse Lemur
Simmons' mouse lemur (''Microcebus simmonsi'') is a species of mouse lemur known only from Betampona Special Reserve, Analalava Special Community Reserve near Foulpointe, and Zahamena National Park in Madagascar. The species is named in honor of Dr. Lee Simmons, former director of the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo in Nebraska. Simmons' mouse lemur is the largest of the east coast mouse lemurs. The body is dark reddish to orange brown with black-tipped hairs on the crown and sometimes a stripe down middle of the back. There is a distinctive white patch on the snout and the belly is grayish white to white.
