Missouri Mavericks
The Kansas City Mavericks are an ice hockey team in the ECHL. Founded in 2009 as the Missouri Mavericks of the Central Hockey League, CHL, the team plays in Independence, Missouri, a suburb of Kansas City, Missouri, at the Cable Dahmer Arena. History On April 16, 2009, the Central Hockey League announced an expansion team for Independence, to begin play in the 2009–10 season. The new organization teamed up with local newspaper ''The Examiner (Independence), The Examiner'' to hold a name-the-team contest until May 11. The Missouri Mavericks' name, logo, and colors were unveiled on June 24. On May 29, 2009, it was reported that Scott Hillman would be the Mavericks' first head coach, resigning from his same position with the Southern Professional Hockey League's Knoxville Ice Bears to do so. Independence is the fifth-largest city in Missouri and the county seat of Jackson County, Missouri, Jackson County. Scott Hillman
Scott Hillman (born April 29, 1974) is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey defenceman. He was most recently the head coach of Frisk Asker in Norway’s Top Men’s Professional Hockey League Career Player Hillman was born in LaSalle, Ontario. After playing hockey in college for the University of Windsor, Hillman played professionally for the Toledo Storm of the ECHL, the Odessa Jackalopes of the Western Professional Hockey League and Central Hockey League, EV Duisburg of Oberliga, and the El Paso Buzzards of the Western Professional Hockey League. He also played roller hockey for the Buffalo Wings of both Roller Hockey International and Major League Roller Hockey. Richard Matvichuk
Richard Dorian Matvichuk (born February 5, 1973) is a Canadian former National Hockey League defenseman. He played 14 seasons with the Minnesota North Stars/Dallas Stars, and the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League. Playing career Although he was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Matvichuk was raised in the nearby city of Fort Saskatchewan. Matvichuk was drafted eighth overall in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft by the Minnesota North Stars, and made the transition, along with several other players, including Mike Modano and Derian Hatcher, to the franchise's move to Dallas, and played 733 regular season games as a Dallas Star. Matvichuk played 12 years for the Stars, scoring 38 goals and 129 assists, although with a rather low average of penalty minutes compared with his physical style of play. Indy Fuel
The Indy Fuel are a minor league ice hockey team in the ECHL that began play in the 2014–15 season. Based in Indianapolis, Indiana, the Fuel play their home games at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum on the Indiana State Fairgrounds. They are affiliated with the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL's Rockford IceHogs. History On November 11, 2013, the ECHL's board of governors approved the expansion membership application of the Indy Fuel for admission to the league for the 2014–15 season. The Chicago Wolves are a professional ice hockey team playing in the American Hockey League and are the top minor-league affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League.
