Mississippi Highway 22 (MS 22) is a state highway in central Mississippi, United States. It runs from east to west for approximately , serving only two counties: Madison and Hinds, while connecting the towns of Edwards, Flora, and Canton. Route description MS 22 begins in rural western Hinds County in the town of Edwards at an intersection with MS 467 just north of downtown. It heads north to immediately have an interchange with I-20/US 80 (Exit 19) before leaving Edwards and winding its way northeast as a two-lane highway through a mix of farmland and wooded areas for the next several miles. The highway now crosses into Madison County and passes by the Mississippi Petrified Forest as it enters Flora along Peach Street to have an intersection with US 49. Brookhaven is a small city in Lincoln County, Mississippi, United States, south of the state capital of Jackson. The population was 12,520 at the 2010 U.S. Census. It is the county seat of Lincoln County. It was named after the town of Brookhaven, New York, by founder Samuel Jayne in 1818. History Brookhaven is located in what was formerly territory of the Choctaw. The city was founded in 1818 by Samuel Jayne from New York, who named it after the town of Brookhaven on Long Island. Most of the Choctaw were forced out of Mississippi in the 1830s under Indian Removal, and were given lesser land in Indian Territory. The railroad was constructed through Brookhaven in 1858. Bude is a town in Franklin County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 1,063 at the 2010 census. Bude is located on the north bank of the Homochitto River, which bisects the county on a diagonal running from northeast to southwest, where it flows on its way to the Mississippi River. Interstate 22 (I-22) is a Interstate Highway in the US states of Mississippi and Alabama, connecting I-269 near Byhalia, Mississippi, to I-65 near Birmingham, Alabama. I-22 is also Corridor X of the Appalachian Development Highway System. Designated in 2012, I-22 follows the route of the older U.S. Route 78 (US 78). The freeway mainly spans rural areas and passes numerous small towns along its route, including Fulton, Tupelo, New Albany, and Holly Springs in Mississippi; and Jasper, Winfield, and Hamilton in Alabama. Mississippi Highway 69
Mississippi Highway 69 (MS 69) is a state highway in eastern Mississippi. The route starts at the Alabama state line, and travels northwestward to Columbus. MS 69 then goes through downtown Columbus, and ends at U.S. Route 45 (US 45) and US 82 in the west side of the town. Before the road was designated as MS 69 in 1941, it was a gravel road from Columbus to the state line. The road was paved in asphalt in 1953. In 1992, US 82 was realigned, and MS 69 was extended through Columbus to its current northern terminus. Route description MS 69 starts at the Alabama state line, where Alabama State Route 14 ends.
