Mission To Magnus
''Mission to Magnus'' is a story originally written to be part of the unfilmed 1986 season of ''Doctor Who''. It was novelised by its scriptwriter Philip Martin, who had previously written the television stories ''Vengeance on Varos'' and ''Mindwarp''. The story is set after another unfilmed story, '' The Nightmare Fair''. A novelisation of the story was published by Target Books in 1990 as the third volume of its ''Missing Episodes'' series. A Big Finish audio adaptation of the story was published in 2009. Synopsis The Doctor is tricked by his old Gallifreyan school bully Anzor and becomes involved with a conflict on the planet Magnus. There, a virus in the planet's atmosphere has made the surface lethal to men, and the predominantly female society is led by Madamme Rana Zandusia. Philip Martin (screenwriter)
Philip Martin (3 July 1938 – 13 December 2020) was an English television screenwriter. He created the BBC television drama series ''Gangsters'' in the 1970s and later wrote two television serials for ''Doctor Who'' during Colin Baker's tenure as the Sixth Doctor in the 1980s. Career His early work included regular series such as ''Z-Cars'' in the late 1960s/early 1970s, but his most famous work is the postmodern television series ''Gangsters''. This was an examination of race seen through an increasingly surreal vision of Birmingham's criminal underworld. Beginning as an acclaimed one-off edition of ''Play for Today'' in 1975, it was followed by two series of 6 episodes each in 1976 and 1978. Ice Warrior
The Ice Warriors are a fictional extraterrestrial race of reptilian humanoids in the long-running British science fiction television series '' Doctor Who''. They were originally created by Brian Hayles, first appearing in the 1967 serial ''The Ice Warriors'' where they encountered the Second Doctor and his companions Jamie and Victoria. In ''Doctor Who'', the Ice Warriors originated on Mars, which within the series narrative is a dying world. Their early appearances depict the Ice Warriors as attempting to conquer the Earth and escape their planet as early as Earth's Ice Age. Nicholas Briggs (born 29 September 1961) is an English actor, writer, director, sound designer and composer. He is associated with the BBC science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'' and its spin-offs, particularly as the voice of the Daleks and the Cybermen in the 21st century series. ''The Lost Stories'' is the eleventh and penultimate book in the series ''Ranger's Apprentice'' by Australian author John Flanagan. It is a collection of "lost" tales that fill in the gaps between novels. The book was released in Australia on 3 October 2011 and in New Zealand on 7 October 2011. The Trial Of A Time Lord
The twenty-third season of British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'', known collectively as ''The Trial of a Time Lord'', aired in weekly episodes from 6 September to 6 December 1986. It contained four adventures: ''The Mysterious Planet'', ''Mindwarp'', ''Terror of the Vervoids'' and ''The Ultimate Foe''; the season also marked the final regular appearance of Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor. ''The Monster of Peladon'' is the fourth serial of the 11th season of the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'', which was first broadcast in six weekly parts on BBC1 from 23 March to 27 April 1974. Sil is a fictional alien from the television series '' Doctor Who'', first appeared in the 1985 serial ''Vengeance on Varos''. Sil was portrayed by Nabil Shaban. Overview Sil was the representative of the Galatron Mining Corporation present on the planet Varos to extract concessions from the current Governor. Unbeknownst to the Varosians, the mineral Zeiton-7 which was abundant on their planet was not as they thought nearly valueless, but in fact rare, particularly to time travellers. The Varosians lived barely above the poverty line due to the exploitation of companies like the Galatron Mining Corporation and others.
