Miss USA 1991
Miss USA 1991 was the 40th anniversary of the Miss USA pageant, televised live from the Century II Convention Center in Wichita, Kansas on February 22, 1991. At the conclusion of the final competition, Kelli McCarty of Kansas was crowned by outgoing titleholder Carole Gist of Michigan. Kelli became the first titleholder from Kansas and only the 3rd winner to be crowned as Miss USA in her home state. The pageant was hosted by Dick Clark for the third of five years, with color commentary by Barbara Eden for the only time and Miss USA 1970 Deborah Shelton for the first time. This was the second of four years that the pageant was held in Wichita, Kansas. This year was the first time that introduced the delegates in region by region and one by one in the Parade of States. The regions are The Midwest, The South, The Northeast, The Northwest, and The Southwest. Kelli McCarty
Kelli Rachelle McCarty Oseen (born September 6, 1969) is an American actress, model, photographer, and former beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss USA 1991. She then placed in the top six at Miss Universe 1991, representing the United States. After ending her career in pageantry, McCarthy began an acting career and starred as Beth Wallace on the soap opera ''Passions'' (1999–2006). After ''Passions'', McCarthy began acting as a pornographic actress, appearing in a number of softcore and hardcore films, receiving an exclusive contract with Vivid Entertainment that also gave her a say in the casting process of the scenes she was in. Career McCarty won the Miss USA beauty contest in 1991, competing as Miss Kansas USA. Miss California USA is the beauty pageant that selects the representative for the state of California in the Miss USA pageant, and the name of the title held by that winner. The pageant is directed by Crown Diva Productions. California's most successful placements were in 1959, 1966, 1975, 1983, 1992, and 2011, when Terry Huntingdon, Maria Remenyi, Summer Bartholomew, Julie Hayek, Shannon Marketic, and Alyssa Campanella, respectively, were crowned Miss USA. Miss USA 1973 was the 22nd Miss USA pageant, televised live by CBS from Broadway Theatre, New York City, New York on May 19, 1973, Hosted by Bob Barker who 8 months earlier began hosting ''The Price Is Right'' on CBS. The pageant was won by Amanda Jones of Illinois, who was crowned by outgoing titleholder Tanya Wilson of Hawaii. Miss Arizona USA is the beauty pageant that selects the representative for the state of Arizona in the Miss USA pageant, and the name of the title held by its winner. The pageant is directed by Casting Crown Productions. Arizona's most successful placements were in 1965 and 1980, when Jane Nelson and Jineane Ford, respectively, placed as the first runner-up. Ford later became Miss USA 1980 after the original winner Shawn Weatherly was crowned Miss Universe 1980. Arizona's most recent placement was in 2016, when Chelsea Myers placed in the Top 15. Miss World 1991
Miss World 1991, the 41st edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 28 December 1991 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. The winner was Ninibeth Leal representing Venezuela. She was crowned by Gina Tolleson of the United States. Miss World 1991 was scheduled to be held in the Dominican Republic. Due to scheduling difficulties, Miss World was first moved to Puerto Rico, then to Atlanta, United States. Preliminary swimsuits in Miss World 1991 were held in South Africa. Miss World America 1992 was the 4th edition of the Miss World America pageant and it was held in El Paso, Texas and was won by Sharon Belden of Florida. She was crowned by outgoing titleholder, Charlotte Ray of New Jersey. Miss World is the oldest existing international beauty pageant. It was created in the United Kingdom by Eric Morley in 1951. Since his death in 2000, Morley's widow, Julia Morley, has co-chaired the pageant.
