Miss Teen USA 1996
Miss Teen USA 1996, the 14th Miss Teen USA pageant, was televised live from Las Cruces, New Mexico on 21 August 1996. At the conclusion of the final competition, Christie Lee Woods of Texas was crowned by outgoing queen Keylee Sue Sanders of Kansas. The pageant was hosted by Bob Goen for the third and final year, with color commentary by Shari Belafonte and entertainment from The Monkees. This was the only year that the pageant was held in Las Cruces, although Albuquerque had previously played host to the 1987 Miss USA pageant. For the first time ever, 6 out of 10 semifinalists were African-American. Christie Lee Woods
Christie Lee Woods (born October 21, 1977) is an American model and actress who, in 1996, was the first Texan to capture the Miss Teen USA crown. Woods first came to prominence as a beauty queen, winning the titles of Miss Texas Teen USA and Miss Teen USA 1996. She later appeared as an actress and as a participant on reality television show, ''The Amazing Race''. Pageants Miss Teen USA 1996 Woods won the Miss Houston Teen USA title in 1995, then competed in Miss Texas Teen USA 1996, winning the title. She represented Texas in the 1996 Miss Teen USA pageant broadcast live from Las Cruces, New Mexico in August 1996, and became the first woman from her state to win the Miss Teen USA title. Miss Missouri Teen USA
The Miss Missouri Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Missouri in the Miss Teen USA pageant. It is directed by Vanbros and Associates, based in Lenexa, Kansas. In 1993, Missouri joined the Vanbros group of state pageants for the Miss USA and Teen USA system. Missouri is in the top 10 most successful states at Miss Teen USA in terms of number and value of placements. Six Missouri teens have gone on to compete at Miss USA, although only four as Miss Missouri USA. The other two represented Kansas, another Vanbros state. Two notable Miss Missouri Teen USAs (who both later won the title Miss Missouri USA) are Larissa Meek and Melana Scantlin, who appeared on the reality TV show '' Average Joe''. The Miss Tennessee Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state Tennessee in the Miss Teen USA pageant. The pageant is directed by Greenwood Productions under the ownership of Miss Tennessee USA 1989, Kimberly Payne Greenwood, since 1992. Miss Teen USA 1990
Miss Teen USA 1990, the 8th Miss Teen USA pageant, was televised live from Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum, Biloxi, Mississippi, on July 16, 1990. At the conclusion of the final competition, Bridgette Wilson of Oregon was crowned by outgoing titleholder Brandi Sherwood of Idaho. 1990 marked the year that Oregon won the pageant for the second of three times in the history of the pageant. Oregon and Texas are the only states that have won more than two Miss Teen USA titles, Oregon: Mindy Duncan in 1988, Bridgette Wilson in 1990 and Tami Farrell in 2003. Miss Teen USA 1991
Miss Teen USA 1991, the 9th Miss Teen USA pageant, was televised live from the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, Mississippi on 19 August 1991. At the conclusion of the final competition, Janel Bishop of New Hampshire was crowned by outgoing titleholder Bridgette Wilson of Oregon. Bishop is the first African American winner ever and the first titleholder from New Hampshire. The pageant was hosted by Dick Clark (who last hosted it in 1988 and was already also hosting Miss USA & Miss Universe Pageants on CBS), with color commentary by Leeza Gibbons and Miss Teen USA 1985 Kelly Hu for the second time. Miss Teen USA 1992, the 10th anniversary of the Miss Teen USA pageant, was televised live from the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, Mississippi on 25 August 1992. At the conclusion of the final competition, Jamie Solinger of Iowa was crowned by outgoing queen Janel Bishop of New Hampshire. Jamie is the first Miss Teen USA from Iowa. This marks the first (and so far only time) a candidate did not compete. In this case, Miss DC Teen USA was unable to go to Biloxi at the time being. Miss Florida Teen USA
The Miss Florida Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Florida in the Miss Teen USA pageant. Florida ties with Illinois and North Carolina for most Miss Photogenic awards (3). These were won in a successive streak from 1996 to 1998. In 2021, Florida became the 27th state that won the Miss Teen USA title for the first time. The Miss Vermont Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Vermont in the Miss Teen USA pageant. It is formerly directed by Sanders & Associates, Inc., dba- Pageant Associates based in Buckhannon, West Virginia from 2004 to 2017 before GDB Theatre and Pageant Productions becoming the new directors of the stage pageant since 2018. The Miss New York Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of New York in the Miss Teen USA pageant. It is directed by D&D Productions. In 1983, New York became the 1st state ever that won the Miss Teen USA title for the first time. New York is also one of only five states to have won the Miss Congeniality award at least two times. The Miss North Dakota Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of North Dakota in the Miss Teen USA pageant.
