Miss Teen USA 1989, the 7th Miss Teen USA pageant, was televised live from Orange Pavilion, San Bernardino, California on July 25, 1989. At the conclusion of the final competition, Brandi Sherwood of Idaho was crowned by outgoing titleholder Mindy Duncan of Oregon. This was the second and final year the pageant was held in San Bernardino. It was hosted by Wil Shriner, with color commentary from Marcia Strassman and Angela Visser, Miss Universe 1989. Brandi Sherwood
Brandi Sherwood is an American model, actress, and Miss USA and Miss Teen USA winner. She was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was originally 1st runner-up at Miss USA 1997, and later was crowned Miss USA when the original winner was crowned Miss Universe. And (at age 18) she was crowned Miss Teen USA 1989 and was a frequent rotating Barker's Beauty model on the US daytime television game show ''The Price Is Right'' from 2002 to 2009. Pageant history In 1997, she won the Miss Idaho USA title and represented her state at Miss USA 1997. She became first runner-up to eventual Miss USA, Brook Mahealani Lee. The Miss Kentucky Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Kentucky in the Miss Teen USA pageant. Gabriella Hembree of Carrollton was crowned Miss Kentucky Teen USA 2022 on March 26, 2022 at The Center for Rural Development in Somerset. She represented Kentucky at Miss Teen USA 2022 in Reno, Nevada. Eligibility The participant must be a single, legally recognized female between the ages of 14–18 years old. Specifically, the contestant has to be under 19 years old before January 1 of the pageant year. Also, the applicant must have never been married, pregnant, or had a marriage annulled. Miss Mississippi Teen USA
The Miss Mississippi Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Mississippi in the Miss Teen USA pageant. The pageant was directed by Premier Pageants from 2001 to 2010, before becoming part of Greenwood Productions in 2010 under the ownership of Miss Tennessee USA 1989 Kim Greenwood. Mississippi has had two Miss Teen USA placements as of 2010. They have had one Miss USA and a Miss Teen USA in 1987 becoming the 5th state that won the Miss Teen USA title for the first time, and in 2014, Vaeda Mann was 1st runner-up. Miss Teen USA 1983
Miss Teen USA is a beauty pageant formerly run, since 1983, by the Miss Universe Organization for girls aged 14–19. Unlike its sister pageants Miss Universe, which currently broadcasts on Fox and Miss USA, this pageant is webcast on the Miss Teen USA website and simulcast on mobile devices and video game consoles. The Miss Universe Organization previously operated Miss Teen USA, as well as Miss USA, until 2020 when the rights to produce both pageants were licensed to Miss USA 2008 Crystle Stewart. The parent company of all three pageants and the Miss Universe organization remains the same under the licensing agreement: JKN Metaverse Inc., a subsidiary of JKN Global Group. Miss Teen USA 1986, the 4th Miss Teen USA pageant, was televised live from Ocean Center, Daytona Beach, Florida on January 21, 1986. At the conclusion of the final competition, Allison Brown of Oklahoma was crowned by outgoing queen Kelly Hu of Hawaii. This was the first year the pageant was held in Daytona Beach, although it had been staged in Miami the previous year. The pageant was hosted by Michael Young, the host from 1983 to 1984 who returned from hosting after a break in 1985. Miss Teen USA 1987, the 5th Miss Teen USA pageant, was televised live from El Paso Civic Center, El Paso, Texas on July 21, 1987. At the conclusion of the final competition, Kristi Lynn Addis of Mississippi was crowned by outgoing queen Allison Brown of Oklahoma. This was the only year that the pageant was held in El Paso. It would not return to Texas until Miss Teen USA 1997, the first of three years it was held on South Padre Island. The Miss Washington Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Washington in the Miss Teen USA pageant. Washington is one of the more successful states at Miss Teen USA, having placed on eight occasions. Their highest placement came in 1985, when Dru Homer placed 2nd runner-up to Kelly Hu of Hawaii. The Miss South Dakota Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of South Dakota in the Miss Teen USA pageant and the name of the title held by that winner. The Miss Oklahoma Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Oklahoma in the Miss Teen USA pageant. This pageant is directed by Vanbros and Associates, headquartered in Lenexa, Kansas. In 1997, Oklahoma joined the Vanbros group of state pageants for the Miss USA and Teen USA system. Oklahoma is in the top 5 most successful states at Miss Teen USA in terms of number and value of placements. Oklahoma's best performance came in the 1980s through the early 1990s. The Miss New York Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of New York in the Miss Teen USA pageant. It is directed by D&D Productions. Miss Alabama Teen USA
The Miss Alabama Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Alabama in the Miss Teen USA pageant and the name of the title held by that winner. Alabama's success at Miss Teen USA has improved in recent years, with eight teens making the cut, although none have placed higher than 4th runner-up until 2016. That placement went to Anna Mingus, who also won Miss Congeniality, Alabama's only special award until Erin Snow won Miss Photogenic in 2016. Mingus later took the title Miss Alabama USA in 1995, and is one of only three Alabama teens to win a Miss USA state title.
