Miss Earth Sweden
Miss Earth Sweden was a beauty pageant for Sweden, Swedish females between 18–27 years old. The pageant was until 2013 sponsored by Carousel Production Inc.. The winner of the pageant competes in the global beauty pageant, Miss Earth, held each year in the Philippines. The main issues of the contest are environmental causes and the preservation of the Earth. The Swedish supervisor of the franchise was, until 2011, Roberto Strindstedt. In 2011, the Miss Universe Sweden organization bought the rights for crowning Miss Earth Sweden, and for Miss Earth 2011 they choose Renate Cerljen. A beauty pageant is a competition that has traditionally focused on judging and ranking the physical attributes of the contestants. Pageants have now evolved to include inner beauty, with criteria covering judging of personality, intelligence, talent, character, and charitable involvement, through private interviews with judges and answers to public on-stage questions. The term beauty pageant refers originally to the Big Four international beauty pageants. Pageant titles are subdivided into Miss, Mrs. or Ms., and Teen – to clearly identify the difference between pageant divisions. Hundreds and thousands of beauty contests are held annually, but the Big Four are considered the most prestigious, widely covered and broadcast by media. Miss Earth 2009
Miss Earth 2009, the 9th edition of the Miss Earth pageant, was held on November 22, 2009 at the Boracay Ecovillage Resort and Convention Center in Boracay, Malay, Aklan, Philippines. Karla Henry of Philippines crowned her successor Larissa Ramos of Brazil at the end of the event. The pageant had 80 delegates from various countries and territories that vied for the Miss Earth crown. The pageant's Top 16 competed on both swimsuit and evening gown competitions to determine the Top 8, the first time since 2003. The Miss Earth 2009 theme was "Green Lifestyle", in which the candidates were involved with environmental causes. The show was hosted by Marc Nelson, Sarah Meier, and Borgy Manotoc. Miss Earth 2017, the 17th edition of the Miss Earth pageant, with the theme "Heroines fighting climate change", was held on November 4, 2017 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines. Katherine Espín of Ecuador crowned her successor Karen Ibasco of the Philippines at the end of the event. This is the fourth time Philippines won Miss Earth - the most in the pageant's history. Miss Earth 2016
Miss Earth 2016, the 16th edition of the Miss Earth pageant, with the theme "Empowered to make a Change", was held on October 29, 2016, at the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines. 83 contestants from all over the world competed for the title. Angelia Ong of the Philippines crowned her successor Katherine Espín of Ecuador at the end of the event becoming the second Ecuadorian woman to win the title of Miss Earth and the first since Olga Álava in 2011. This year's edition also features the newly polished and modified crown created by Florida-based jeweler, ''Ramona Haar''. The crown's original design from the 2009 edition of the pageant to enhance the crown's general appearance and to have an intimate fit to the head of the winner. Miss Earth 2015
Miss Earth 2015, the 15th edition of the Miss Earth pageant, was held on 5 December 2015 at Marx Halle in Vienna, Austria. Jamie Herrell of the Philippines crowned her compatriot Angelia Ong as successor at the end of the event. It was the first time the pageant was held in Europe outside of Asia. It was also the first ever back-to-back victory in Miss Earth history. Miss Earth 2014, the 14th edition of the Miss Earth pageant, was held on November 29, 2014 at the University of the Philippines Theater, inside the campus of the University of the Philippines Diliman in Quezon City, Philippines.
