Mising Agom Kebang
The Mising Agom Kébang (MAK) is a non-governmental organisation which aims to preserve and develop the Mising language, a language of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, India. It was established on 18 April 1972 at Disangmukh in the district of Sivasagar, Assam, India. The jurisdiction of MAK is the state of Assam, and it operates through its branches, named Bangke Agom Kébang (BAK). History Nahendra Padun, a research student at Gauhati University, and Prof. Tabu Taid, a lecturer in English at Cotton College, Guwahati, considered carrying the efforts of the Guwahati Mising Kebang at the level of the Mising community as a whole. They organized an open meeting at Disangmukh, Sibsagar district, Assam on April 17 and 18, 1972. After deliberations, a resolution was adopted in the meeting on April 18, 1972 to set up an organization named Mising Agom Kebang (MAK), with Tabu Ram Taid as its first president and Nahendra Padun as its first secretary. Dhemaji
Dhemaji (Pron: deɪˈmɑ:ʤi or di:ˈmɑ:ʤi) is a City in Assam and it is the headquarters of Dhemaji district, Assam, India. Etymology The district's name ''Dhemaji'' is derived from the Deori word ''Dema-ji'' which means ''great water'' indicating it to be a flood-prone region. Geography Dhemaji is located at . It has an average elevation of 91 metres (298 feet). Dhemaji is located to the north of the river Brahmaputra. To its north lies the Arunachal Himalayas. Mising Language
Miri or Mising, also known as Plains Miri, is a Tani language spoken by the Mising people. There are 629,954 speakers (as per Census of India, 2011), who inhabit mostly the Lakhimpur, Sonitpur, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Sibsagar, Jorhat, Majuli, Golaghat, Tinsukia districts of Assam and also some parts of Arunachal Pradesh. The primary literary body of Mising is known as ' Mising Agom Kébang (Mising Language Society)'. The Mising, Padam and Minyong speak dialects of the same language. Tabu Ram Taid ( as, টাবু ৰাম টাইড, hi, टाबु राम टाइड) known as 'Tabu Taid', (1 August 1942 – 17 August 2019) was an Indian educationist, linguist, author and administrator. Early life and education Tabu Taid was born on 1 August 1942 in a geographically remote and economically challenged village Ghunasuti Ayengia in Lakhimpur district of Assam, India. His father was Ubbang Taid, a poor farmer who had to work hard to meet the needs of the family of two daughters, five sons and his wife, a nine-member family. The village, 'Ghunasuti Ayengia' is a settlement of a small indigenous tribe of Assam, the Misings or Miri. Often visited by floods during the monsoon season, the villagers were poor subsistence level farmers. Cotton College
Cotton College was a Roman Catholic boarding school in Cotton, Staffordshire, United Kingdom. It was also known as ''Saint Wilfrid's College''. The school buildings were centred on Cotton Hall, a country house used by religious communities from the 1840s until the school moved there in 1873. Mising Baptist Kebang
Mising Baptist Kebang (MBK) is a Baptist churches convention based in Assam, India. It has six associations and is spread across six districts of Assam. It is an associate member of the Council of Baptist Churches in Northeast India, and has over 116 churches affiliated under MBK with 4,300 members. The MBK is made primarily of Mishing people, an indigenous ethnic group of Assam. The MBK mission center is at Moinapara, Gogamukh in Dhemaji District of Assam state.
