Mish Mish, Akkar District
Mish Mish (), also spelled Michmich, is a village located in Akkar Governorate, Lebanon. Mish Mish is situated 1100 metres above sea level in the mountainous terrain of the north. The closest major city to the village is Tripoli, Lebanon, Tripoli 45 km to the west; the Lebanese capital Beirut is 129 km to the southwest. History The Akkar region was first inhabited by the Phoenicians but the original settlers of the Mish Mish village built mud brick homes around the mosque to stay close for prayers and also safety as there were plentiful dangerous wild animals such as hyenas that roamed the surrounding valleys and mountains. A few of the original mud brick homes are still standing near the village mosque. The village has seen many foreign occupiers pass through its lands such as the Crusades, Crusaders, Ottoman Turks and the France, French colonial forces. Egyptian Communist Organisation
The Egyptian Communist Organisation ( ar, المنظمة الشيوعية المصرية, ''al-Munaẓẓamah aš-Šiūʿīah al-Miṣriyyah'', abbreviated م.ش.م) was a political organisation in Egypt. The group emerged in mid-1948 as the Voice of the Opposition, following a split from the Democratic Movement for National Liberation. Voice of the Opposition published ''Sawt al-brulitaria'' (صوت البروليتاريا, 'Voice of the Proletariat'). In December 1948 the group merged with the group Toward Bolshevik Organisation, becoming the Egyptian Communist Organisation. It was dubbed as 'MISHMISH', a pejorative distortition of its acronym. ''Mishmish'' (مشمش) means apricot in Arabic. The leadership of MISHMISH was almost exclusively Jewish, made up by former members of the '' Iskra'' group.
