Mirsad Bektić (born February 16, 1991) is a Bosnian-born American retired professional mixed martial artist who competed in the Featherweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Background Mirsad Bektić was born on February 16, 1991, to Bosnian Muslim parents in the eastern Bosnian town of Srebrenica in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (present-day Bosnia and Herzegovina) amid the breakup of Yugoslavia. Mirsad "Žvaka" Baljić (born 4 March 1962) is a Bosnian former professional footballer who played as an offensive left-back. He got his nickname ''Žvaka'' (chewing gum) for his constant use of chewing gum during matches. Club career Baljić made his first football steps in hometown club Sarajevo's youth team before temporarily leaving football because of medical problems. When he returned, he went to city rivals Željezničar, and as one of their more talented youngsters, he got the opportunity to play in the first team. Mirsad Bektašević (born 30 July 1987), alias Maximus, is a Swedish citizen born in Montenegro, Yugoslavia who in 2005 was arrested in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, charged with planning a terrorist attack against an unnamed target. Bektašević was convicted in 2007 alongside three other men and sentenced to 15 years and 4 months of imprisonment. Mirsad Bešlija (born 6 July 1979) is a Bosnian retired professional footballer who played as a right winger. He has most notably played for Željezničar, Genk, Heart of Midlothian and the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team. Club career Bešlija started his career with hometown club Slaven Živinice. Although he was among the youngest players in their squad, he became an important part of the first team. He was spotted there and signed by Bosna Visoko, a first division team at that time, in 1997. Mirsad Fazlagić (born 4 April 1943) is a Bosnian retired professional footballer and manager, considered one of the best full-backs of his generation. Club career Fazlagić started his football career in the youth setup of his local hometown team Čapljina in 1957. As a talented seventeen year old, he was acquired by Yugoslav First League side FK Željezničar, where he also made his debut in the top tier of Yugoslav football. After one season with the blues he made a switch to bitter city rivals FK Sarajevo in the summer of 1960. Mirsad Huseinovic (born November 26, 1968) is a U.S. soccer player. He spent one season in the American Professional Soccer League and one game Major League Soccer. He also earned one cap with the U.S. national team. Youth and college Huseinovic moved to the United States from Montenegro with his family when he was five. His family settled in Brooklyn where he learned to play soccer from his father. He attended New Utrecht High School, graduating in 1987. He then attended Brooklyn College from 1988 to 1992 where he played on the men’s soccer team. Playing career Club Born in Sveti Nikole, SR Macedonia, SFR Yugoslavia, as a player Jonuz was member of numerous Yugoslav clubs.
