Mirovice
Mirovice () is a town in Písek District in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 1,600 inhabitants. The town centre is well preserved and is protected by law as an urban monument zone. Administrative parts Villages of Boješice, Kakovice, Ohař, Plíškovice, Ráztely, Řeteč, Sochovice and Touškov are administrative parts of Mirovice. Geography Mirovice is located about north of Písek and southwest of Prague. It lies in the Benešov Uplands. The highest point is the flat hill Chlumek at above sea level. The Skalice River flows through the town. History The first written mention of Mirovice is from 1323. The oldest part of Mirovice is Ráztely, mentioned already in 1088. Sights The main landmark is the Church of Saint Clement. It was probably built around 1240. In 1726, it was rebuilt into the Baroque style by plans of Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer. Ráztely
Ráztely (until 1910 Rastely, until 1950 Raztely) is a village and administrative part of Mirovice in Písek District in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. History The first record of Rastely is from 1068. Another record can be found in the Codex Vyssegradensis from about 1085. Until 1323 the village was, together with Svučice and another 20 villages along the old salt path from Passau, the property of the Vyšehrad Chapter. Rastely later became a manor estate where on its fortified house lived Jiřík z Rastel in 1511 (he died in 1542). His daughter Anna sold the village to Jan and Jiřík of Ploskovice. Rastely was accredited to Kryštof Loubský z Lub na Rencích during the Czech assembly of 1584. After Rastely became the property of the House of Šic of Drahenice it was pillaged in 1622 and in 1623 sold to Příbík Jeníšek z Újezda when it was also merged with the nearby town Březnice. Písek (; german: Pisek) is a town in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 30,000 inhabitants. The town centre is well preserved and is protected by law as an urban monument zone. Písek is colloquially called "''South Bohemian Athens''", because it has many high schools and schools of higher education, including the Film School in Písek. Bätterkinden
Bätterkinden is a municipality in the administrative district of Emmental in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. It is about north of Bern. History Bätterkinden is first mentioned in 1261 as ''Beturchingen''. During the High Middle Ages there was a settlement on the Zwingherrenhubel. By 1261, Bätterkinden village was part of the Kyburg Amt of Utzenstorf. In 1406, the Kyburgs pledged Bätterkinden to Heinrich Ringoltingen to repay some of their debts. He combined Bätterkinden and Utzenstorf into the ''Herrschaft'' of Landshut. In 1510, Bern acquired Bätterkinden and four years later the rest of the ''Herrschaft'' of Landshut. Following the 1798 French invasion, Bätterkinden became part of the Helvetic Republic district of Burgdorf. After the Act of Mediation in 1803, it was transferred to the Fraubrunnen district. Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer
Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer ( cs, Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer) (1 September 1689, Prague – 18 December 1751) was a Bohemian architect of the Baroque era. He was the fifth son of the German architect Christoph Dientzenhofer and the Bohemian-German Maria Anna Aichbauer (née Lang), widow of the architect Johann Georg Achbauer the Elder, and a member of the well known Dientzenhofer family of architects. As an architect he co-operated with his father and with Jan Santini Aichel. Among Dientzenhofer's Prague buildings are the churches of Saint John of Nepomuk and Saint Nicholas, as well as the Vila Amerika and the Kinský Palace. He also built numerous churches and secular buildings in other towns of Bohemia. Many of his later projects were realized by his pupil and son-in-law Anselmo Martino Lurago. Benešov (; german: Beneschau; also known as Benešov u Prahy) is a town in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 16,000 inhabitants. The town is known for the Konopiště Castle.
