Miroslav Tellalov
Hipodil ( bg, Хиподил ) was a Bulgarian Rock and roll, rock band, founded in the late 1980s in Sofia by four classmates from the local Mathematics High School. Hipodil's popularity was based in large on their aggressive, sarcastic, sometimes vulgar and explicit but yet humorous lyrics. Because of that Hipodil were known as a "scandalous and rebellious" band. Their main goal was to entertain the listener and themselves; most of the lyrics concerned topics such as alcohol (drug), alcohol, sex, women, the status quo, etc.; they frequently ridiculed famous Bulgarian and non-Bulgarian people and even politicians (and sometimes songs). Nevertheless, the band had some pretty serious tracks with complex and socially oriented lyrics. Sofia
Sofia ( ; bg, София, Sofiya, ) is the capital and largest city of Bulgaria. It is situated in the Sofia Valley at the foot of the Vitosha mountain in the western parts of the country. The city is built west of the Iskar river, and has many mineral springs, such as the Sofia Central Mineral Baths. It has a humid continental climate. Bulgarian Rock Archives (or Български рок архиви) is the first online encyclopedia dedicated to rock music in Bulgaria. Launched online on 2 August 2013 and includes more than 350 bands and performers from the mid-1960s. The articles are divided in alphabetical order, year of creation, style, location. Profiles of the groups include a short biography, discography, composition, links to videos, and links to official sites and profiles. Starting 4 June 2015, the site uses a new version, has made an example from the world heavy metal encyclopaedia - Encyclopaedia Metallum, with better features and design. Hipodil (single)
''Hipodil'' is a promotional two-track EP by the Bulgarian rock band of the same name in 2002. The EP is widely known by the name of its first track "Skakauec" (Grasshopper). It was the last official release by the band under the Hipodil name and was sent to radio stations. The song was inspired by an incident on the ''Wheel of Fortune''-style game show ''Risk pecheli, risk gubi!'' in 2000. A contestant from Pernik was asked to guess the word "СКА_А_Е_", and after responding in the negative to an offer for a "joker", he answered "скакалец", although his accent made the word sound like (standard pronunciation is ) - the word turned out to be "скарабей" (scarab, a beetle or an ancient Egyptian artefact). Hora Ot Naroda
Hora ot naroda ( bg, Хора от народа) is the fifth and final album by Bulgarian rock band Hipodil. Released on 4 December 2000, the album had guest vocalists due to bandleader Svetoslav Vitkov moving to the US to find work, so they recruited vocalists for some tracks from other Bulgarian rock bands (most notably Petar Stanoev and Nikolai Yordanov from Kontrol). Other tracks on the album were sung by keyboardist Ventsislav Mitsov, who was deputised to the bandleader position while Vitkov was in America. Vitkov himself had already recorded lead vocal tracks for the tracks "Drugo nyama" and "Partizani", and appears as a backing vocalist in "Choveche". Tu'pest
''Tu'pest'' is a greatest hits compilation of the Bulgarian rock band Hipodil, released in 2000 under the Riva Sound label, the band's fifth and last release with that company. The name is a pun - from ''tup'' - Bulgarian for "dumb", and ''-est'', the superlative suffix in English as in "the best". The main purpose of the release was to finally offer most of the early hits by the band on a CD as Hipodil's first three albums were released on audio cassettes only. Despite the CD release however most of the tracks were hardly remastered and still sound pretty similar to the original versions. It was also Hipodil's first appearance on CD. As there are no singles in the classic meaning of the term and no verifiable sales or airplay charts in Bulgaria and Bulgarian record companies do not report sales figures it is also impossible to assess the commercial success of the songs in this compilation. Arena Sofia ( bg, Арена София, ) is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in Sofia, Bulgaria. Opened in July 2011, it has a seating capacity of 12,373. It was formerly called Arena Armeets after the Bulgarian insurance company Armeets purchased the naming rights, until the sponsorship was terminated in October 2022. Designed as a universal hall for cultural events and sports, the arena could host up to 30 types of sports, including basketball, volleyball, handball, futsal, boxing, tennis, weightlifting, fencing and gymnastics competitions, as well as concerts with a maximum capacity of 17,906. Kontrol
Kontrol are a Bulgarian punk band. Initially active between 1988 and 2000, they achieved stardom in the early 1990s with their first two albums, ''Bumm'' (1991) and ''Lele kako'' (1993). In 1997, their lead singer Nikolai Yordanov left and the band's popularity declined, which led to their dissolution in 2000. They reformed in their original lineup in 2009 for a short Bulgarian tour, then reformed in 2014 with a new lead singer, Ivan Gatev. History The band was formed in 1988 and were one of the first official punk bands in the country. Their first recordings, "Tryabva vsichko da priemam" and "Nai-vazhnoto", were for the 1988 film "Pred praga" (At the Doorstep). Later that year, they released a demo tape called ''Stariyat dub''. Svetlio & The Legends
Svetlio & the Legends, also referred to as Svetlio Hipodilski i Legendite ( bg, Светльо Хиподилски и Легендите ), is a Bulgarian alternative rock band, formed in 2007 by former members of Hipodil. History Hipodil broke up in 2004, but still played gigs. In 2006, at a concert at Zimen dvorec in Sofia, Hipodil played alongside Revyu and Upsurt. They debuted a new song entitled "Let Me Da Te Love You", which used a mixed form of Bulgarian and English words. In 2007, Svetlio and the Legends released their debut album, '' Bulgarno'' in 2007. The album stated it contained 10 tracks, however only nine were released, because track 5, "Povarhnostni rani" (Повърхностни рани, Running Wounds) was said to have been plagiarised from an Italian pop song.
