''Minx'' is a 1985 album by the British singer Toyah Willcox, released by Portrait Records. It was her first album as a solo artist and spawned the moderate hit "Don't Fall in Love (I Said)". Background Although still credited simply as "Toyah" (which was the name of Toyah (band), the band she fronted up until 1984), the album was technically the start of Willcox's career as a solo artist, and her first LP for a major label, Portrait Records (part of the CBS Records International, CBS group) after she left the independent label Safari Records, Safari which had released all of her music up until then. ''Minx'' was to be Toyah's only album for Portrait. The album represented a departure from her previous works, which tended toward thematic albums written almost in their entirety by Willcox and long-standing band members such as Joel Bogen and Phil Spalding. Toyah Willcox
Toyah Ann Willcox (born 18 May 1958) is an English musician, actress, and TV presenter. In a career spanning more than 40 years, Willcox has had eight top 40 singles, released over 20 albums, written two books, appeared in over 40 stage plays and 10 feature films, and voiced and presented numerous television shows. Between 1977 and 1983, she fronted the band Toyah, before embarking on a solo career in the mid-1980s. At the 1982 BPI/Brit Awards, Toyah was nominated for British Breakthrough Act, and Best Female Solo Artist. Toyah was nominated a further two times in this category in 1983, and in 1984. Latin Quarter is a British band formed in 1983. They had one top 20 single "Radio Africa" in the United Kingdom. The British radio were cautious in the eighties to play their singles because of their political based lyrics. They became more popular in Germany and in northern Europe. Latin Quarter released their latest album, ''Releasing the Sheep'', on 29 October 2021. Their sound mixes elements of pop, rock, reggae and folk with largely political based lyrics. Michael Owen Bruce (born March 16, 1948) is an American musician. He is the co-founder, rhythm guitarist, keyboardist and backing vocalist for the rock band Alice Cooper. Early life Michael Owen Bruce was born to Alvin and Ruth (Owen) Bruce. The Bruce and Owen families had moved to Arizona from Kansas. The family ancestry includes Cherokee, Scottish, Irish, English and Norman French. Ruth's father, Clarence Glenn Owen, was a veteran of World War I and also a professional baseball player: "Blacky" Owen. Alice Cooper (also known as the Alice Cooper Group or the Alice Cooper Band) was an American rock band formed in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1964. Mark Ashton or Mark Ashton Vey (born Mark McVey; 23 June 1949) is a British painter, musician, compositer, ex-drummer of the English progressive rock band Rare Bird. Steve Gould (born 25 March 1950) is a British singer and musician who was the lead singer and bassist (later, rhythm guitarist) of the late 1960s to mid 1970s London-based progressive rock band, Rare Bird. They had one hit single titled "Sympathy" which peaked at No. 27 in the UK Singles Chart. Gould went on to form the mainstream band Runner on Island Records in the late 1970s after Rare Bird broke up. The band's debut album charted in the Billboard 200. "Sympathy" is a song by the English progressive rock band Rare Bird. It became the band's only UK chart entry when it peaked at number 27 in the UK Singles Chart in 1970. The song reached No. 1 in Italy and in France, selling 500,000 copies in France and over one million globally. The song peaked at number 98 in Australia, becoming the group's only top 100 appearance there. Michael McKell (born 10 February 1959, in Bethnal Green, London) is an English actor. He is best known for playing Inspector Trevor Hands in ''Murder Investigation Team'' (2003-2005), Dr. Nick West in ''Doctors'' (2006-2008) and DS Nicholas "Nick" Henshall in ''Emmerdale'' (2008-2011). Adrian Lee (born 9 September 1957, London, England) is an English musician, known especially for his brass instrumentation work with several well-known acts of the 1980s. Career Lee was first signed to Phonogram Records in the late 1970s as guitarist with the band, Red Hot. They released one single, "L-L-Lazy Days" (1976), which was produced by Mutt Lange. Lee's first big engagement led him to play guitar and keyboards on Cliff Richard's late 1970s tours, and his 1979 album, '' Rock 'n' Roll Juvenile''.
