Slank is an Indonesian rock band. It was founded in 1983 by teenagers in an alley street in Jakarta called Gang Potlot. The band is also known for its song which are often accompanied with political and socially conscious lyrics. It continues to be active and has received many awards from the Indonesian music industry. History Early years Bimo Setiawan Almachzumi (Bimbim) created Cikini Stones Complex (CSC) in the early 1980s. The band covered Rolling Stones songs. In 1983 the band broke up. Accompanied by his colleagues Denny and Erwan, Bimbim created the band Red Devil. For the guitarist Bimbim brought in Bongky Marcel. In December 1983 they changed their band name to Slank because they looked "selengean" ("rebellious" or "unruly"). The group's initial lineup consisted of Kaka (vocals), Pay (guitars), Bongky Marcel (bass), Indra Qadarsih (keyboards), and Bimbim (drums). Generasi Biru
''Generasi Biru'' is Slank's fourth album. It was released on November 15, 1994. This is the first album produced by Slank after the contract with Boedi Soesatio was discontinued. The first three albums were produced by Boedi Soesatio under the Proyek 'Q' label. It was recorded in 1994 in Cipayung and Cibubur, West Java. Production Background Slank had made a breakthrough in Indonesian music in the 90's. Before Slank, Indonesian music was dominated by the so-called 'pop cengeng' and the creative pop genre. The various musical influences of Slank members made an impact on their music. This difference was found out by a graphic designer, Boedi Soesatio, who was also a family friend of Indra Q. Boedi Soesatio was the man who was the band's producer for their first three albums. Anthony M. "Tony" Monaco (born August 14, 1959) is an American jazz organist. at The Hammond Jazz Inventory Biography Monaco played accordion from childhood and was heavily influenced by Jimmy Smith in his youth. In 1971, he switched to organ after hearing Smith play the instrument, and later received personal mentoring from Smith. In the early 2000s, he recorded his debut album in collaboration with Joey DeFrancesco, '' A New Generation: Paesanos on the New B3'' which reached No. 18 on ''Jazzweek's Top 100'' for the year 2003, and began releasing material on Summit Records. Monaco's career continued in the 2000s with frequent touring and performances with guitarist Pat Martino. Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival (JJF) is one of the largest jazz festivals in the world and arguably the biggest in the Southern Hemisphere, held in Jakarta, Indonesia.
