Ministry Of Family And Social Policy (Turkey)
The Ministry of Family and Social Services ( tr, Aile ve Sosyal Hizmetler Bakanlığı) is a government ministry of the Republic of Turkey, responsible for family affairs and social services. The ministry is headed by Derya Yanık. History Before the establishment of the ministry in 2011, the portfolio of women and family affairs was executed by a state minister in the cabinet with the help of the Agency for Social Services and Children Protection ( tr, Başbakanlık Sosyal Hizmetler ve Çocuk Esirgeme Kurumu). The first head of the new established ministry was Fatma Şahin. In 2018, the ministry was merged with the Ministry of Labour and Social Security to form the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Services. This merger was undone in 2021, making the Labour and Social Security related tasks headed by a separate minister. The 52nd government of Turkey (30 October 1995 – 6 March 1996) was a caretaker coalition government formed by True Path Party (DYP) and Republican People's Party (CHP). Background The 50th government of Turkey came to an end because Deniz Baykal of CHP asked for an earlier date for the scheduled elections. Prime minister Tansu Çiller tried a minority government, but the 51st government of Turkey could not receive the vote of confidence. Tansu Çiller accepted Deniz Baykal's proposal, and the 52nd government was formed as a caretaker government until the elections. The Democrat Party ( tr, Demokrat Parti), abbreviated to DP, is a liberal conservative Turkish political party, established by Ahmet Nusret Tuna in 1983 as the True Path Party ( tr, Doğru Yol Partisi or DYP). It succeeded the historical Democrat Party and the Justice Party, two parties with similar ideologies. Their sister party is the Good Party. There have been four DYP governments since its foundation; one led by Süleyman Demirel, the other three by Turkey's first and only female Prime Minister, Tansu Çiller. Işılay Saygın (April 4, 1947 – July 26, 2019) was a Turkish architect, politician, and four-time government minister between 1995 and 1999. İşilay Saygın was born to Osman Nuri Saygın and his wife Fatma in Buca district of İzmir Province, western Turkey. She graduated from Faculty of Architecture at Ege University. Saygın entered politics in 1973 from the Justice Party (AP) and served two terms as district mayor of her hometown. Her post ended in 1980 after the military coup that year. She then worked as an architect until she returned to politics in 1983 joining the Nationalist Democracy Party (MDP). Aysel Baykal l (1939 – January 24, 2003) was a Turkish female jurist, politician and former government minister. Aysel Baykal graduated from Istanbul University's Faculty of Law. She served as a city councillor in the local government legislative bodies of Istanbul Province and Istanbul Municipality. Zehra Önay Alpago (born 1947) is a Turkish female jurist, politician, former government minister and academic. Private life Zehra Önay Alpago was born in Karadeniz Ereğli of Zonguldak Province, northwestern Turkey in 1947. She graduated from Ankara University, Law School in 1969. Türkân Akyol (October 12, 1928 – September 7, 2017) was a Turkish politician, physician and academic. She was the first Turkish female government minister, and the first female university rector in Turkey. Early life Türkan Akyol was born on October 12, 1928 in Istanbul. The 49th government of Turkey (20 November 1991 – 25 June 1993) was a coalition government formed by True Path Party (DYP) and Social Democratic Populist Party (SHP).
