The Ministry of Community Empowerment and Advancement ( he, המִשְׂרַד לחיזוק וקידום קהילתי, ''Ha-Misrad LeHizuk V'Kidum Kehilati'') of the government of Israel, is the governmental department responsible for Communal Development in the State of Israel. History The Ministry was established in May 2020 during the negotiations to form a new government after the election to Knesset. The Ministry oversees the work of the Anti-Violence and Anti-Drug Authority, the National Child Protection Network, a City Without Violence project and various projects to strengthen the Arab sector. Its political head is the Community Empowerment and Advancement Minister of Israel, and its offices are located in Jerusalem. The Cabinet of Israel (officially: he, ממשלת ישראל ''Memshelet Yisrael'') exercises executive authority in the State of Israel. It consists of ministers who are chosen and led by the prime minister. The composition of the government must be approved by a vote of confidence in the Knesset (the Israeli parliament). Under Israeli law, the prime minister may dismiss members of the government, but must do so in writing, and new appointees must be approved by the Knesset. Most ministers lead ministries, though some are ministers without portfolio. Most ministers are members of the Knesset, though only the Prime Minister and the " designated acting prime minister" are required to be Knesset members. Omer Bar-Lev ( he, עֹמֶר בַּר־לֵב; born 2 October 1953) is an Israeli politician who formerly served as Minister of Public Security. He was previously a member of the Knesset for the Israeli Labor Party. He was placed seventh on the party's list for the 2013 Israeli legislative election, and serves as the Party's point person on issues of peace and defense. Bar-Lev is an IDF reserve officer with the rank of colonel (Aluf mishne), who was commander of the Sayeret Matkal elite commando unit between 1984 and 1987. Gesher ( he, גשר, lit. ''Bridge'') was a liberal Zionist, social liberal, and centrist political party in Israel, established in December 2018 by former Yisrael Beitenu MK Orly Levy. The party focuses primarily on economic and cost-of-living issues. The name of the party is a reference to the party founded by Orly's father, David Levy. History Levy served on behalf of the Yisrael Beiteinu party during the 20th Knesset, but withdrew from the party after it joined the 34th government, due to the fact that she did not receive a ministerial position despite her high ranking on Yisrael Beitenu's list.
