The Minister for Medical Research was a minister in the New South Wales Government and has responsibilities which included medical research in New South Wales, Australia. History The New South Wales government was involved in medical research since 1871 with the establishment of the position of Analytical Chemist. The NSW Medical Research Council was established on 18 September 1946 with objectives that included (1) carrying out a survey of medical research being conducted; (2) advising the government as to the expenditure of money upon medical research and the merits of reputed cures or methods of treatment. The Council however ceased to operate within a year of its establishment. Medical Research was not represented at a portfolio level until 2003 with the creation of the portfolio of Science and Medical Research. The Carr ministry (2003–2005) or Fourth Carr ministry was the 88th ministry of the New South Wales Government, and was led by the 39th Premier of New South Wales, Bob Carr, representing the Labor Party. The ministry covered the period from 2 April 2003, when Carr led Labor to victory at the 2003 state election, until 3 August 2005, when Carr resigned as Leader of the Labor Party in New South Wales and hence, as Premier. First Perrottet Ministry
The First Perrottet ministry or First Perrottet–Toole ministry is the 98th ministry of the Government of New South Wales, and is led by Dominic Perrottet, the state's 46th Premier. The Liberal–National coalition ministry was formed following the resignation of the previous Premier, Gladys Berejiklian and the election of Perrottet as leader of the Liberal Party on 5 October 2021. Stuart Ayres was elected as deputy party leader. Separate to the Liberal Party leadership election, the National Party also had its own leadership election on 6 October 2021, following the resignation of John Barilaro as party leader, who said it was "the right time for me to hand the reins over". Berejiklian Ministry (2017–2019)
The First Berejiklian ministry was the 96th ministry of the Government of New South Wales, and was led by Gladys Berejiklian, the state's 45th Premier. The Liberal–National coalition ministry was formed on 23 January 2017, immediately following the resignation of the previous Premier, Mike Baird. Berejiklian and Nationals leader, John Barilaro, were sworn in at Government House, Sydney by Governor David Hurley on the same day. On 29 January, Premier Berejiklian announced a reorganisation of the ministry, with the full ministry sworn in by the Governor on 30 January 2017. The Second Baird ministry was the 95th ministry of the Government of New South Wales, and was led by Mike Baird, the state's 44th Premier. It is the second and subsequent of two occasions when Baird served as Premier. The Liberal–National coalition ministry was formed following the 2015 state election where the Baird government was re-elected. Composition of ministry Baird announced his ministry on 1 April 2015 and the ministry was sworn in on 2 April 2015 at Government House by the Governor of New South Wales David Hurley. The only change to the ministry was the resignation of Troy Grant as Deputy Premier in November 2016 following the loss of the Orange state by-election. The Baird ministry (2014–2015) or First Baird ministry was the 94th ministry of the Government of New South Wales, and was led by Mike Baird, the state's 44th Premier. The Liberal–National coalition ministry was formed following the announcement by Barry O'Farrell on 16 April 2014 that he would resign as Premier. O'Farrell Ministry
The O'Farrell ministry was the 93rd ministry of the Government of New South Wales, and was led by Barry O'Farrell, the state's 43rd Premier. The Liberal–National coalition ministry was formed following the defeat of the Keneally-led Labor government at the 2011 election. It was the first coalition ministry since the Greiner- Fahey-led coalition ministries of the late 1980s and early 1990s. On 28 March 2011, O'Farrell and Nationals leader Andrew Stoner were sworn in by Governor Marie Bashir, as Premier and Deputy Premier respectively at a ceremony held in the office of the Chief Secretary of New South Wales. The New South Wales Minister for Health is a minister in the New South Wales Government and has responsibilities which includes all hospitals, health services, and medical research in New South Wales, Australia. The current Minister for Health, since 30 January 2017 is Brad Hazzard. The Keneally ministry is the 92nd ministry of the Government of New South Wales, and was led by the 42nd Premier Kristina Keneally. The ministry was formed following a caucus motion to elect a new Leader of the Australian Labor Party in New South Wales, where Keneally defeated her party colleague, the 41st Premier, Nathan Rees. The Iemma ministry (2005–2007) or First Iemma ministry is the 89th ministry of the Government of New South Wales, and was led by the 40th Premier Morris Iemma. It was the first of two occasions when Iemma was Premier. The 1st Iemma Labor ministry was formed following the shock retirement of Bob Carr as Premier after Carr had the longest continuous service as Premier, from 1995 until 2005.
