Minardi M02
The Minardi M02 was the car with which the Minardi Formula One team competed in the 2000 Formula One season. Development The M02 was designed by Gustav Brunner. The car was a clear development from the M01 featuring new pointed nose cone, compact sides and high exhausts. The M02 developed the titanium cased gearbox from 1999 even further, which helped with weight. The M02 was the first F1 car to adopt set down brake callipers in a seasonal development. The M02 continued using the Ford Cosworth V10 engine which was the same power unit from 1998. It was badged Fondmetal. Drivers For 2000, Marc Gene was retained by Minardi and began his second season with the team. 2000 European Grand Prix
The 2000 European Grand Prix (officially the 2000 Warsteiner Grand Prix of Europe) was a Formula One motor race held on 21 May 2000 at the Nürburgring in the German town of Nürburg in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate before 142,000 spectators. It was the sixth round of the 2000 Formula One World Championship and the ninth European Grand Prix in Formula One. Ferrari driver Michael Schumacher won the 67-lap race after starting from second place. Mika Häkkinen of the McLaren team finished in second and his teammate David Coulthard was third. Fiorano Circuit
The Fiorano Circuit () is a private racetrack owned by Ferrari for development and testing purposes. It is located in Fiorano Modenese, near the Italian town of Maranello. The circuit has FIA Grade 1 license. Work begun in 1971 and officially open on 8 April 1972, it was originally wide and 3000 metres (1.86 miles) long. In 1992, a chicane was added making it 3021 metres (1.88 miles) long, then in 1996 a new renovated track was introduced (a fast bend to replace a sharp corner at the end of the pit straight) which shortened the total length by 24 metres (0.02 miles). Giorgio Vinella (born 22 August 1973 in Putignano) is an Italian racing driver. Career history Giorgio Vinella’s racing career starts in the early ‘90s driving go-kart in the category 100cc National, while in 1993 he debuted with Henry Morrogh’s single-seater car. The brilliant debut was highlighted being rewarded by Autosprint as most promising driver in the race and in Giorgio Vinella started racing in the British Formula Ford Championship.
