Milton House (Melbourne)
Milton House is a historic building located at 21–25 Flinders Lane, Melbourne, Australia. It was built in 1901 as a private hospital for the eminent Melbourne surgeon, William Moore, who was the first master of surgery graduate of the University of Melbourne.Milton House Heritage Victoria Its location on a street that was originally largely warehouses was likely linked to the concentration of medical professionals at the top end of Collins Street, Melbourne, Collins Street nearby. Art Nouveau (; ) is an international style of art, architecture, and applied art, especially the decorative arts. The style is known by different names in different languages: in German, in Italian, in Catalan, and also known as the Modern Style (British Art Nouveau style), Modern Style in English. Flinders Lane is a minor street and thoroughfare in the central business district of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The laneway runs east–west from Spring Street to Spencer Street in-between Flinders and Collins Streets. Originally laid out as part of the Hoddle Grid in 1837, the laneway was once the centre of Melbourne's rag trade and is still home to boutique designers and high-end retailers including Chanel, now perched alongside numerous upscale hotels like the W Hotel Melbourne and Adelphi Hotel, loft apartments, cafes and bars.
