''Coronation Street'' is an English soap opera created by Granada Television and shown on ITV since 9 December 1960. The programme centres around a cobbled, terraced street in Weatherfield, a fictional town based on inner-city Salford. Originally broadcast twice weekly, the series began airing six times a week in 2017. The programme was conceived by scriptwriter Tony Warren. Natalie Gumede (born 20 March 1984) is an English actress. She is known for playing Kirsty Soames in the ITV soap opera, ''Coronation Street'', from 2011 to 2013. She previously played China in BBC Three comedy show ''Ideal''. She has also appeared in ''The Persuasionists'', ''Emmerdale'' and ''Doctor Who'' among other television shows. Susan Hanson (born 11 February 1943, in Preston, Lancashire) is an English actress who played the part of Diane Lawton (later Parker and Hunter) in the long-running British soap opera ''Crossroads'' from 1965–87, when her character was controversially killed off. She also had a brief role in the film ''Catch Us If You Can'' (1965) starring The Dave Clark Five.
