Milton is an unincorporated community in Randolph County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. An old variant name was "Firth". History Milton was laid out in 1836, and named after Milton, North Carolina Milton is a town in Caswell County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 166 at the 2010 census. It is adjacent to the Virginia International Raceway, just across the state line in Virginia. The town's name was derived from its beginn ..., the native home of a first settler. A post office called Milton was established in 1840, and closed temporarily in 1872. Upon reopening, the post office was renamed in order to avoid repetition with Milton, Atchison County, Missouri. A post office called Firth was established in 1883, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1902. Milton once had a schoolhouse, now defunct. Randolph County, Missouri
Randolph County is a county in the northern portion of the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2010 census, the population was 25,414. Its county seat is Huntsville. The county was organized January 22, 1829 and named for U.S. Representative and U.S. Senator John Randolph of Roanoke, Virginia. Randolph County comprises the Moberly, Missouri Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Columbia-Moberly-Mexico, Missouri Combined Statistical Area. History Randolph County was primarily settled by migrants from the Upper Southern states, especially Kentucky and Tennessee. Milton is a town in Caswell County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 166 at the 2010 census. It is adjacent to the Virginia International Raceway, just across the state line in Virginia. The town's name was derived from its beginnings as Mill Town. A mill was established prior to the incorporation of the town. History Woodside, a historic plantation home, is located southeast of town along Highway 57. It was the home of Caleb Hazard and Mary Dodson Richmond during the mid-19th century. General Stephen Dodson Ramseur, a distinguished American Civil War hero, was a nephew of Caleb Hazard and Mary Dodson Richmond and stayed with them while recuperating from injuries received in the Battle of Malvern Hill. While there he fell in love with their daughter, Ellen, and they were married in the parlor. Ramseur was killed almost a year later at the Battle of Cedar Creek.
