Millwater is a northern suburb of Auckland, located in New Zealand. It is about 33 kilometres (by road) north of the city centre. The Auckland Northern Motorway and Orewa River form its western and northern boundaries respectively. Millwater was built on former farmland in 2005. Development is expected to be complete in 2022, with an anticipated population of 10,000. A companion suburb of Milldale, New Zealand, Milldale is intended on the other side of the Northern Motorway, and this might include a new primary school for the area. Orewa River
Orewa is a suburb of Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city. It lies on the Hibiscus Coast, just north of the base of the Whangaparaoa Peninsula, Whangaparāoa Peninsula and 40 kilometres north of central Auckland. It is a popular holiday destination. Wainui
Wainui is a locality in the Rodney Ward of the Auckland Region of New Zealand. Wainui is approximately 5.5 kilometres north-east of Waitoki and 10 km west of Orewa. The Wainui Stream flows south-west through the area, and exits into the Kaukapakapa River. History Wainui is an old established area which saw people with English, Scottish and Irish roots settle around 1850. Among the first settlers were two farmers, Hutson and Thick followed by King, Lloyd and Jacobs. About 1860 the Lambert, Lamont, Fennell and Scott families started to clear further land for cultivation. When these settlers arrived Wainui consisted of teatree and fern with fairly extensive areas in virgin bush including magnificent kauris. The 2013 New Zealand census was the thirty-third national census. "The National Census Day" used for the census was on Tuesday, 5 March 2013. The population of New Zealand was counted as 4,242,048, – an increase of 214,101 or 5.3% over the 2006 census. Millwater Shops
Millwater () is a 1.4 hectare (3.5 acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest at Crewkerne in Somerset, notified in 1989. Millwater consists of a complex mosaic of pasture, wet grassland, tall-herb fen, standing and running water, alder and willow carr. The invertebrate fauna of the site has been extremely well documented and 1744 species have been recorded in the period 1978-1988 including many nationally scarce species in a wide range of groups. Seventy-six bird species have been recorded on the site. Of these, twenty-eight species are known to breed including sedge warbler (''Acrocephalus schoenobaenus''), reed warbler (''Acrocephalus scirpaceus''), and reed bunting (''Emberiza schoeniclus'') which are characteristic inhabitants of tall herb fen and carr vegetation. Auckland Northern Motorway
The Auckland Northern Motorway (known locally as the Northern Motorway, and historically as the Auckland–Waiwera Motorway) in the Auckland Region of New Zealand links Central Auckland and Puhoi in the former Rodney District via the Hibiscus Coast and North Shore. It is part of State Highway 1. It is in length, with 15 junctions. Until the end of the 1980s, it was largely associated with the Auckland Harbour Bridge as a connection between central Auckland and the North Shore, but since 1994 it has been extended to Puhoi to become the primary route between the Auckland urban area, the Hibiscus Coast satellite towns, the northern Rodney district, and Northland. Dairy Flat is a northern rural district located 8 km south of Orewa in the North Island of New Zealand and 28 km north of central Auckland. Until the early 1990s most of the district was in dairy farms of 40 to 60 hectares (100 to 150 acres), but with the growth of Auckland City and the extension of the Northern Motorway into the area, these are being gradually overtime subdivided into lifestyle blocks of around 2 to 5 hectares (5 to 12 acres), many of which are grazing sheep, horses, beef cattle or deer.
