It flows through the cities of Grosse Pointe Woods and St. Clair Shores. Over half of the river is now underground including the low, inland area of the once swampy Black Marsh Ditch. The decision to contain and bury the river was made August 18th, 1955 at a Draining Board Meeting of officials from the State of Michigan, Macomb County, and Oakland County. The Milk River is a tributary of the Missouri River, long, in the U.S. state of Montana and the Canadian province of Alberta. Rising in the Rocky Mountains, the river drains a sparsely populated, semi-arid watershed of , ending just east of Fort Peck, Montana. Geography It is formed in Glacier County in northwestern Montana, north of Browning, Montana, by the confluence of its South and Middle forks. The long South Fork and long Middle Fork both rise in the Rocky Mountains just east of Glacier National Park, in the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. Much of the water in the North Fork is diverted from the St. Mary River through a canal and inverted siphon. Milk River is a town in Alberta, Canada that is named after the Milk River which flows immediately to its south. This location results in Milk River being one of the few Canadian communities within the Mississippi River drainage system. It is south of Lethbridge, and from the Canada- U.S. border. It is primarily a service centre for the many farms and cattle ranches which surround it. History The Milk River area was first settled around the beginning of the 20th century. Milk River was incorporated as a village on July 31, 1916, and then a town on March 15, 1956. Milk River Ridge
The Milk River Ridge is a high, flat ridge in southwestern Alberta, Canada. It is about in area. Its plateau is about 1,219 meters (4,023 feet) above sea level - which is about 274 meters (904 feet) higher than Lethbridge to its north. The Milk River flows through the plateau. The ridge was formed thousands of years ago as the glaciers that once covered Canada retreated. The area was one of the few parts of Canada to not be overrun by the glaciers during the last ice age. Because of its height, it can be especially windy on the plateau - especially when the Chinook blows in. Though rare, it is also not unheard of to have snow in the summer. Two summer snowfalls of note in recent years are August 21–23, 1992 (up to three feet), and July 15, 1999 (at least one foot). Milk River Bath is mineral spa in the South West corner of Clarendon Parish, Jamaica. Owned by the Government of Jamaica since its opening in 1794, it now has about 6 public baths and a hotel with about 20 bedrooms.
