The Military Bishopric of Paraguay ( es, Obispado de las Fuerzas Armadas y la Policia Nacional del Paraguay) is a military ordinariate of the Roman Catholic Church. Immediately subject to the Holy See, it provides pastoral care to Roman Catholics serving in the Paraguayan Armed Forces and their families. Eustaquio Pastor Cuquejo Verga C.Ss.R. (20 September 1939 – 22 August 2023) was a Paraguayan Roman Catholic prelate who was the Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Asunción. Biography Cuquejo was born on San Estanislao on 20 September 1939. He joined the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer in 1957. From 1959 to 1964 he studied theology and philosophy at the Redemptorist priest's seminar in Esopus, New York. There he received his holy orders on 21 June 1964. He then studied pastoral psychology in Annapolis, Maryland. After a short time as a vicar in Paraguay, he became professor and apostolic prefect at the seminar of the Redemptorists in Ponta Grossa, Brazil on 21 July 1968, and from 1973 professor of moral theology at the Theologicum de Curitiba. Adalberto Martínez Flores (born 8 July 1951) is a Paraguayan prelate of the Catholic Church who was named as the Archbishop of Asunción in 2022. He has been a bishop since 1997. Flores was created a cardinal by Pope Francis at a consistory on 27 August 2022. He is the first cardinal from Paraguay. Biography Adalberto Martínez Flores was born in Asunción, Paraguay, on 8 July 1951. He studied economics at the National University of Asunción for three years and then studied advanced English in Washington, D.C., and then philosophy at Oblate College in San Antonio, Texas.
