Milan Vasojević
Milan "Ciga" Vasojević ( sr-cyr, Милан "Цига" Васојевић; 27 December 1932 – 24 December 1996) was a Serbian professional basketball coach and administrator. He led the national team of Yugoslavia during the greatest successes of women's basketball. Coaching career Radnički Vasojević coached the men's team of Radnički Belgrade during 1970s. In 1977, Radnički reached the Cup Winners' Cup Finals where they lost to Forst Cantù by a single point margin, 86–87. Women's national team The arrival of Vasojević as a head coach of the Yugoslavia women's national team in 1980 was almost revolutionary move. Danira Bilić
Danira Bilić (; born 22 July 1969) is a retired Croatian basketball player. As part of the Yugoslavian women's team, she won a silver medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. She was European basketball's Most Valuable Player three times running, in 1988, 1989 and 1990. In 1991, she was awarded Croatia's highest national recognition for sports, the Franjo Bučar State Award for Sport. She was announced to be honoured as a member of the 2024 Class of the FIBA Hall of Fame during the enshrinement ceremony in Singapore in September 2024. Since retiring she has maintained an active involvement in sport, and is currently the Director of the Croatian Heritage Foundation. The 1976–77 FIBA European Cup Winners' Cup was the eleventh edition of FIBA's 2nd-tier level European-wide professional club basketball competition, contested between national domestic cup champions, running from 20 October 1976, to 29 March 1977. It was contested by 25 teams, five more than in the previous edition. The Italian League became the first league to win the competition twice in a row, for a second time, when Birra Forst Cantù defeated Radnički Belgrade, in the final, held in Palma de Mallorca. Basketball coaching is the act of directing and strategizing the behavior of a basketball team or individual basketball player. 1987 Summer Universiade
The 1987 Summer Universiade, also known as the XIV Summer Universiade, took place in Zagreb, SR Croatia, SFR Yugoslavia. It involved participants from 111 countries and over 6,000 individual sportspersons and members of teams. Infrastructural changes The city of Zagreb used the event to renovate and revitalize the city. The city's main square (Republic Square) was repaved with stone blocks and made part of the downtown pedestrian zone. A part of the Medveščak stream, which had been running under the sewers since 1898, was uncovered by workers. This part formed the Manduševac fountain that was also covered in 1898.
