"Mil horas" ( en, One thousand hours) is a song by Argentine band Los Abuelos de la Nada, included in the second album '' Vasos y besos'', published in 1983. Composed by keyboardist and singer Andrés Calamaro, the song became one of the band's biggest successes. It holds 5th place on the top 100 best songs of the 80s in Spanish list according to VH1 Latin America, and the 14th place on the top 100 hits of Argentine rock by Rolling Stone. Trelew Massacre
The Trelew Massacre was a mass execution of 16 political prisoners, militants of different Peronist and left (politics), left organizations, in Rawson, Chubut, Rawson prison by the military dictatorship of Argentina. The prisoners were recaptured after an escape attempt and subsequently shot down by marines led by Lieutenant Commander Luis Emilio Sosa in a simulated new attempt to escape. The marines forced the prisoners to fake a new escape, then executed them as revenge by the Revolución Argentina for the successful escape of some of their comrades during the initial prison break. The massacre took place in the early hours of 22 August 1972 in the Almirante Marcos A. Zar Airport, an Argentine Navy airbase located near the city of Trelew, Chubut Province, Chubut in Patagonia. Daniel Melingo (born October 22, 1957) is an Argentine musician, with a background in rock (he played guitar for Los Twist and saxophone for Los Abuelos de la Nada). He is now a tango artist and tours with his band Los Ramones del tango. Biography Melingo was exposed to music since his childhood days, as his stepfather was Edmundo Rivero's manager. After playing for some time with Brazilian singer Milton Nascimento, Melingo was active in the Buenos Aires independent theater scene in the early 1980s, under the military dictatorship. When the restrictions on cultural activities eased after the Falklands war, Melingo became a notable participant in projects such as a rock opera version of "Dr. Moreau's Trials", masterminded by Victor Kesselman, and Los Twist, a fun band with echoes of The B-52's. Gerardo Horacio López von Linden (born 3 March 1956), known professionally as Cachorro López, is an Argentine record producer, musician and songwriter. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he enrolled in various musical ensembles, including Zas and Los Abuelos de la Nada. López has worked with several artists producing their albums, including Caifanes, Stephanie Salas, Andrés Calamaro, Paulina Rubio, Diego Torres and Miranda!. López also was the executive producer of the tribute album for the English band Queen in 1997. Miguel Angel Peralta, (March 21, 1946 – March 26, 1988) known by his artistic name Miguel Abuelo, was an Argentine rock musician and singer. Early days A native of Munro, in the Greater Buenos Aires industrial belt, Miguel Peralta was one of the young rockers that grew out of the ''Norte'' hotel, the ''Perla del Once'' café and the ''La Cueva'' night club in Buenos Aires in the late 1960s. Abuelo did not play in ''La Cueva'' but was friendly with many who did. At some point, he and fellow poetry buff Pipo Lernoud were approached by Ben Molar, a recording executive of ''Mandioca'' (the only label in Argentina dedicated to record Spanish language rock). On the spur of the moment, Peralta claimed that he had a band called '' Los Abuelos de la Nada'' (the Grandparents of Nothingness) which was ready to enter the studio. Magic Juan (born July 27, 1971) is an American merengue hip hop artist. Early life and education Magic Juan was born in Washington Heights, Manhattan, New York City and raised in Teaneck, New Jersey. Sindicato Argentino del Hip Hop is a hip hop music, hip hop group formed in Argentina. It currently consists of three members: Smoler, DJ Fabry and Huexo, and two producers, but it has had different numbers of members over time. The group's style mainly consists of hip hop and funk. Enanitos Verdes
Enanitos Verdes (literal translation: "Little green dwarves", roughly equivalent to the English phrase "Little green men") is a rock trio from Argentina, formed in 1979 in the city of Mendoza. History The band started in 1979, with Marciano Cantero (bass guitar, keyboards and vocals), Felipe Staiti (guitar) and Daniel Piccolo drums. That same year, they performed throughout the Cuyo region. Later they traveled to Buenos Aires to record a demo, with unusable results that were never released. In spite of this failure, they continued doing shows in Mendoza and in Buenos Aires. In 1984 the band added two new members: Sergio Embrioni (guitar and vocals) and Tito Dávila (keyboard).
