Charly García
Charly García (born Carlos Alberto García, October 23, 1951) is an Argentine singer-songwriter, musician and record producer. He formed and headlined two of the most popular bands in Argentina's rock history: Sui Generis in the 1970s and Serú Girán in the 1980s, plus cult status groups like progressive-rock act La Máquina de Hacer Pájaros and folk rock supergroup PorSuiGieco, both also in the 1970s. Since the 1980s García has worked mostly as a solo musician. His main instrument is the piano, followed by guitar and keyboards. García is also well known for his flamboyant and rebellious personality as well as his bicolor moustache, with one side white due to vitiligo. García is often considered by critics as one of the most influential rock artists in Latin America, and he is widely credited (together with Luis Alberto Spinetta and Litto Nebbia) as one of the founding "Fathers of Argentine Rock". Hilda María del Pilar Lizarazu (born 12 October 1963), known as Hilda Lizarazu, is an Argentine rock and roll singer and composer. Lizarazu was born in Curuzú Cuatiá, Corrientes. Between 1988 and 1999, she was the main vocalist and keyboards in the duo Man Ray, with guitarist Tito Losavio. Sui Generis (1974)
Sui Generis is one of the most influential rock bands in Argentine history, enjoying enormous success and popularity during the first half of the 1970s and a following that lasts to the present throughout South America. Its youthful songs, classical at sing-along gatherings, became hymns for successive generations of Argentines and are part of the national cultural landscape. Charly Garcia was author of most of the songs and arrangements, which went from the simple folk style guitar, piano and flute (incorporating small elements of classical music, taking advantage of Garcia's conservatory training) of their greatest hits in the first and second album, to the more developed symphonic/prog rock of their last concept album. David Oscar Lebón (Buenos Aires, October 5, 1952) is an Argentine rock multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter of Argentinian rock, long considered during the 70s and 80s the best guitar player in the country.. Career Born into a family of immigrants (his father was Basque-French and his mother a Russian), Lebón lived his childhood in Ituzaingó, Buenos Aires, with his father and three sisters. ''Vida'' (''Life'') is the debut album of Argentine rock group Sui Generis, released in 1972 by Microfón. In 2007, the Argentine edition of ''Rolling Stone'' ranked it 66th on its list of " The 100 Greatest Albums of Argentine Rock". Background Sui Generis was an electric band formed at the Instituto Social Militar Dr. Dámaso Centeno under the influence of the Swinging London and the regulars of La Cueva. The project soon became an acoustic duo. And, during a tour of Mar del Plata, they were signed by Jorge Álvarez for the Talent Microfón label. Carlos Alberto Mestre (born August 3, 1952 in Buenos Aires, Argentina) mostly known by his stage name Nito Mestre, is an Argentine musician, founding member –along with Charly García– of Sui Generis, member of PorSuiGieco, bandleader of Nito Mestre y los Desconocidos de Siempre and a recording solo artist.
