Mikhail Odnoralov
Mikhail Nikolayevich Odnoralov / Levidov (russian: Михаи́л Никола́евич Однора́лов / Леви́дов / ''Michael Odnoralov'', 10 November 1944 – 22 January 2016) was a Soviet Nonconformist Art, Russian nonconformist artist who was well known in Moscow in the 1970s. He spent the second half of his life in New York City. Biography In 1957, Odnoralov received early art lessons at Robert Falk's private studio, and from 1958 to 1960, he attended art school in Krasnaya Presnya, Moscow. Odnoralov took part in the second Russian avant-garde movement. However, he was also a member of the USSR Union of Artists and showed his paintings at official exhibitions. From 1966 to 1979, his paintings were frequently exhibited at the USSR Union of Artists, Union of Moscow Artists. The State Tretyakov Gallery (russian: Государственная Третьяковская Галерея, ''Gosudarstvennaya Tretyâkovskaya Galereya''; abbreviated ГТГ, ''GTG'') is an art gallery in Moscow, Russia, which is considered the foremost depository of Russian fine art in the world. The gallery's history starts in 1856 when the Moscow merchant Pavel Mikhailovich Tretyakov acquired works by Russian artists of his day with the aim of creating a collection, which might later grow into a museum of national art. In 1892, Tretyakov presented his already famous collection of approximately 2,000 works (1,362 paintings, 526 drawings, and 9 sculptures) to the Russian nation. Boris Sveshnikov
Boris Petrovich Sveshnikov (1927–1998) was a Russian nonconformist painter. On February 9, 1946, Sveshnikov, then a nineteen-year-old art school student at the Moscow Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts, went to buy kerosene in a nearby shop. On the way, he was arrested for participating in a terrorist group preparing an assassination attempt on Josef Stalin. One of the participants in this fabricated MGB accusation was the artist Lev Kropyvnytsky, with whom Sveshnikov studied at the institute. Before his so-called trial, Sveshnikov spent a year in prison. Subjected to endless night interrogations, trips from the basements of Lubyanka to Lefortovo Prison and back, sleep deprivation, and jail overcrowding, inevitably brought Sveshnikov to the brink of physical and nervous exhaustion. Eduard Arkadevich Steinberg (russian: Эдуа́рд Арка́дьевич Ште́йнберг; 3 March 1937 – 28 March 2012) was a Russian painter, philosopher and activist. Personal life Steinberg was born in Moscow, the son of poet, translator and artist . He had residences in Tarusa (Kaluga region) and Paris. His wife, Galina Iosifovna Manevich, is a Russian art critic, author and essayist.
