Mike Snowden
Mike Snowden (born January 1, 1970) is an American bassist, guitarist, singer-songwriter, and cigar box guitar craftsman. Early life Mike Snowden was born on January 1, 1970, in Lafayette, Louisiana and grew up in Natchitoches, Louisiana. He played bass in several bands as a teenager and was mentored by three older musicians—Donnie Hyams, Sammy Nix, and David Dollar—who expanded his musical horizons beyond heavy metal and recruited him to play bass with them when they performed in local bars. The cigar box guitar is a simple chordophone that uses an empty cigar box as a resonator. The earliest had one or two strings; modern models typically have three or more. Generally, the strings are connected to the end of a broomstick or a 1×2 inch wood slat and to the cigar box resonator. History Cigars were packed in boxes, crates, and barrels as early as 1800, but the small boxes that we are familiar with today did not exist prior to around 1840. Until then, cigars were shipped in crates containing 100 or more per case. After 1840, cigar manufacturers started using smaller, more portable boxes with 20–50 cigars per box. Trace evidence of cigar box instruments exists from 1840 to the 1860s. The earliest known illustration of a cigar box instrument is an etching copyrighted in 1876 of two American Civil War soldiers at a campsite, one of whom is playing a cigar box fiddle. Michelle Malone
Michelle Malone is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. Born and raised in Atlanta, she started performing in bands and writing songs as a teenager. Initially, she would sign with Arista Records after performing around parts of Atlanta. Soon after, she would release an album entitled Relentless with her band Drag the River. She would also collaborate with The Harshed Mellows with the song "U.S. Blues" for the tribute album '' Deadicated''. She would again switch labels, going to Velvet records, but decided to found her own record company, SBS Records. Throughout the following years, she would release a multitude of albums. In the 2000s she would release ''Debris'' (2009) and ''Sugar Foot'' (2006), with the former supported by a tour throughout North America and Europe.
