Mike Morgan (actor)
Mike Morgan (1929 – 5 June 1958), born John Michael Pughe-Morgan, was a British actor. He appeared in several TV programmes and made his film acting debut in the 1957 film comedy '' Barnacle Bill'', which starred Sir Alec Guinness. Morgan played a much larger role in another film with Guinness, ''The Horse's Mouth'', as Nosey, a sidekick of Guinness's character, Gulley Jimson. However, shortly before filming ended, he fell ill with meningitis and died before the film was completed; some of his lines were therefore dubbed by another actor. ''Barnacle Bill'' (released in the US as ''All at Sea'') is a 1957 Ealing Studios comedy film, starring Alec Guinness. He plays an unsuccessful Royal Navy officer and six of his maritime ancestors. This was the final Ealing comedy (although some sources list ''Davy'' as the last), and the last film Guinness made for Ealing Studios. His first Ealing success was in ''Kind Hearts and Coronets'' (1949), in which he also played multiple roles. The film was written by the screenwriter of ''Passport to Pimlico''. The Horse's Mouth (film)
''The Horse's Mouth'' is a 1958 film directed by Ronald Neame and filmed in Technicolor. Alec Guinness wrote the screenplay, which was based on the 1944 novel ''The Horse's Mouth'' by Joyce Cary. Guinness also played the lead role of Gulley Jimson, a London artist. Plot Eccentric painter Gulley Jimson is released from a one-month jail sentence for telephone harassment of his sponsor, Mr. Hickson. Meningitis is acute or chronic inflammation of the protective membranes covering the brain and spinal cord, collectively called the meninges. Patricia Elvira Hake (born 29 January 1931), known as Elvi Hale, is a retired British actress. She played Anne of Cleves in '' The Six Wives of Henry VIII'', broadcast in 1970. Career Raised in Romford, Essex and educated at Reed's School. She was discovered by Laurence Olivier, who saw her perform at the Old Vic School. Elvi played Heather, the love interest of Leslie Phillips (as Sub-Lieutenant Pouter) in the film version of The Navy Lark (1959), a role normally played by Heather Chasen in the radio series.
