Mike Logan (American Football)
Mike V. Logan (born September 15, 1974) is former American professional American football player. High school Mike Logan attended high school at McKeesport Area High School in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. He played football for the Tigers under famed Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League, WPIAL coach George Smith. College career Mike Logan was a four-year regular at cornerback and one of the most talented return men in WVU history from 1993-96. Playing for coach Don Nehlen, Logan was one of the best recruits out of Pennsylvania, but his career at West Virginia was limited by breaking the same arm three times. Logan appeared in 37 games, starting 22 during his career, recording 140 tackles, 18 passes broken up, two forced fumbles, eight interceptions and two fumble recoveries. Safety (American Football Position)
Safety is a position in gridiron football on the defense. The safeties are defensive backs who line up ten to fifteen yards from the line of scrimmage. There are two variations of the position: the free safety and the strong safety. Their duties depend on the defensive scheme. The defensive responsibilities of the safety and cornerback usually involve pass coverage towards the middle and sidelines of the field. While American (11-player) formations generally use two safeties, Canadian (12-player) formations generally have one safety and two defensive halfbacks, a position not used in the American game. 2000 Jacksonville Jaguars Season
The 2000 season was the Jacksonville Jaguars' 6th in the National Football League and their sixth under head coach Tom Coughlin. The Jaguars in 1999 had obtained an NFL-best record of 14–2 and thrashed the Miami Dolphins 62–7 in their divisional-round game. However, they were helped to this by an extremely easy regular-season schedule. In 2000, the Jaguars were severely hit by the loss of safety Carnell Lake for the entire season to foot surgery, and by an ultimately career-ending knee injury to right tackle Leon Searcy. Further offensive line injuries, notably to left tackle Zach Wiegert and center John Wade, crippled the Jaguars all season, with the result that after a fair start the Jaguars fell in Week 4 to five consecutive losses and were out of the running for a postseason berth by December, and thus knocking them out of the playoffs for the first time since 1995 when the franchise was first established. The 1999 NFL season was the 80th regular season of the National Football League. The Cleveland Browns returned to the field for the first time since the 1995 season, while the Tennessee Oilers changed their name to " Tennessee Titans," with the league retiring the name "Oilers." The 1998 NFL season was the 79th regular season of the National Football League. 1997 Jacksonville Jaguars Season
The 1997 Jacksonville Jaguars season was the franchise's 3rd season in the National Football League and the 3rd under head coach Tom Coughlin. The team won 11 games and made the playoffs as a wild card team, but lost their first game to the Denver Broncos. The team also made a couple of changes to the uniforms. They changed the numbers to new font style numbers and added black side panels to the uniforms. During the offseason, the team had changed the font style numbers on the jerseys to a skinnier style with a black drop shadow in the back of the numbers. During the team's 1997 preseason games there were several complaints that the announcers and the viewers had a hard time recognizing the numbers on the players, so the team decided to make the jersey numbers wider and removed the drop shadow numbers by the beginning of the regular season. 1997 NFL Season
The 1997 NFL season was the 78th regular season of the National Football League. The Oilers relocated from Houston, Texas to Nashville, Tennessee. The newly renamed Tennessee Oilers played their home games during this season at the Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee while construction of a new stadium in Nashville started. Houston would rejoin the NFL with the expansion Texans in 2002.
