Michael Green (biologist)
Michael Green (January 20, 1954 – February 10, 2023) was an American molecular biologist and cell biologist at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, where he was the chair of the Department of Molecular, Cell and Cancer Biology, director of the UMass Cancer Center, and a Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigator. Green was a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Medicine. Education and academic career Green received his bachelor's degree in biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He then went on to Washington University School of Medicine, from which he graduated in 1981 with his M.D. and Ph.D. in biochemistry under the supervision of Robert G. Roeder. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow with Thomas Maniatis, then at Harvard University, before joining the faculty there in 1984. Michael James Green (born 12 May 1989) is an English footballer who plays as a full back. He played non-League football for Brockenhurst, Christchurch, Eastleigh, and Totton, before he was signed to Port Vale in July 2011. With Totton he won the Southern League Division One South & West in 2010–11 and twice lifted the Hampshire Senior Cup. He was loaned back to Eastleigh in October 2011, and the deal was made permanent a month later. He helped the club to the Conference South title in 2013–14. He left the club for a brief period in February 2017, before returning following a change in management. He ended his ten-year stay at Eastleigh and moved on to Havant & Waterlooville in June 2021. Mike Green (born August 22, 1973) is a Canadian retired racquetball player from Burlington, Ontario. Green set the record for Men's Singles Canadian Championships at 11 in 2017, which broke a tie he had with Sherman Greenfeld. He also won 10 Men's Doubles Canadian Championships, and together those 21 Canadian titles are the most for a Canadian man. Professional career Green's career high professional ranking was 8th at the end of the 2003-04 International Racquetball Tour (IRT) season. Green's ranking is the second highest ever by a Canadian player behind Samuel Murray and Kane Waselenchuk. Michael David Green (born October 12, 1985) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Washington Capitals, Detroit Red Wings and Edmonton Oilers. Known for his hard slapshot and goal-scoring offense during his ten-year tenure with the Capitals, Green put up impressive offensive statistics for a defenceman from 2007 to 2010. Michael Redvers Green (born 17 September 1951) is a former English cricketer. Green was a right-handed batsman who fielded as a wicket-keeper. He was born in Stafford, Staffordshire. Green made his debut for Staffordshire in the 1971 Minor Counties Championship against Northumberland. Green played Minor counties cricket for Staffordshire from 1971 to 1979, which included 41 Minor Counties Championship matches.
