Mike Francesa
Michael Patrick Francesa (born March 20, 1954) is an American sports-radio talk-show host. Together with Chris Russo, he launched ''Mike and the Mad Dog'' in 1989 on WFAN in New York City, which ran until 2008 and is one of the most successful sports-talk radio programs in American history. On December 15, 2017, Francesa retired from his own show, '' Mike's On: Francesa on the FAN'', which had been airing in the afternoon-drive slot formerly occupied by ''Mike and the Mad Dog''. He was succeeded by Chris Carlin, Maggie Gray and Bart Scott in the same time slot for the first ratings book of 2018. On April 27, 2018, WFAN announced that Francesa would return to the station for a -hour afternoon show, a shorter shift than his original slot. ''Imus in the Morning'' was a long-running radio show hosted by Don Imus. The show originated on June 2, 1968, on various stations in the Western United States and Cleveland, Ohio before settling on WNBC radio in New York City in 1971. In October 1988, the show moved to WFAN when that station took over WNBC's dial position following an ownership change. It was later syndicated to 60 other stations across the country by Westwood One, a division of CBS Radio, airing weekdays from 5:30 to 10 am Eastern time. Beginning September 3, 1996, the 6 to 9 am portion was simulcast on the cable television network MSNBC. Westwood One was an American radio network that was based in New York City. At one time, it was managed by CBS Radio, and was later purchased by the private equity firm, The Gores Group. Pete Franklin
Pete Franklin (September 22, 1927 – November 23, 2004), nicknamed "The King", "Sweet Pete" and "Pigskin Pete", was an American sports talk radio host who worked in Cleveland, New York and San Francisco. He is widely credited with pioneering the more aggressive, acerbic and attention-grabbing form of the genre, which has since been adopted by generations of sports media personalities, and bringing it to a multinational listening audience. Ed Coleman (born 1949 in Lawrence, Massachusetts) is a radio reporter for the New York Mets on WFAN. Early life Coleman graduated from Syracuse University in 1971. Career WFAN Ed started his career on WFAN as Steve Somers' overnight update person in the 1980s before moving on and being replaced by Suzyn Waldman. In the early 1990s, he co-hosted WFAN's midday show with Dave Sims. The show was nicknamed the ''Coleman and the Soul Man''. When the show was canceled he was reassigned as WFAN's New York Mets beat reporter.
