Joseph Gottfried Mikan
Joseph Gottfried Mikan (3 September 1743 – 7 August 1814) was an Austrian-Czech botanist born in Böhmisch-Leipa (Česká Lípa). He was the father of zoologist Johann Christian Mikan (1769-1844). He was a student in Dresden, Prague and Vienna, and served as a spa physician in Teplice. In 1773 he became an associate professor, and two years later was appointed a full professor of botany and chemistry at the University of Prague. In 1798 he became rector of the university. He was the author of ''Catalogus plantarum omnium'' (1776), which he dedicated to the botanical garden in Prague. Johann Christian Mikan
Johann Christian Mikan (born 5 December 1769 in Teplitz, died 28 December 1844 in Prague) was an Austrian-Czech botanist, zoologist and entomologist. He was the son of Joseph Gottfried Mikan. Career Mikan was a professor of natural history at the University of Prague. He was one of three leading naturalists on the Austrian Brazil Expedition. He wrote ''Monographia Bombyliorum Bohemiæ, iconibus illustrata'' in 1796, ''Entomologische Beobachtungen, Berichtigungen und Entdeckungen'' in 1797, and ''Delectus Florae et Faunae Brasiliensis, etc.'' in 1820. George Lawrence Mikan Jr. (; June 18, 1924 – June 1, 2005), nicknamed "Mr. Basketball", was an American professional basketball player for the Chicago American Gears of the National Basketball League (NBL) and the Minneapolis Lakers of the NBL, the Basketball Association of America (BAA) and the National Basketball Association (NBA). Mikan Drill
The Mikan Drill is a basketball drill commonly credited to George Mikan and his college coach at DePaul University Ray Meyer. It is designed to help basketball centers and forwards develop rhythm, timing for rebounding, and scoring in the paint. It is also used for outside players to better their layup skills and increase stamina, for longer games. The drill is practiced as follows: From under the basket, make a layup with the right hand, catch the ball under the net with the left hand and make a layup with the left hand. Catch the ball out of the net with the right hand and lay it in with the right hand. Continue, alternating hands. Ed Mikan
Edward Anton Mikan (October 20, 1925 – October 22, 1999) was an American professional basketball player. He was the younger brother of George Mikan. After starring at Joliet Catholic High School in Illinois, the 6'8" Mikan joined the DePaul Blue Demons men's basketball team. With his brother, he helped DePaul win the 1945 National Invitational Tournament Championship over Bowling Green State University. is a fictional character in the manga series ''To Love Ru'', created by Saki Hasemi and Kentaro Yabuki. In the series, Mikan is the independent and reliable younger sister of protagonist Rito Yuuki. She also appears in the sequel, ''To Love Ru Darkness''. Conception and creation Mikan Yuuki was one of the earliest characters writer Saki Hasemi and illustrator Kentaro Yabuki conceived for ''To Love Ru'', done so upon realizing they did not have a "little sister" character.
