Mikael Modrekili
Michael Modrekili ( ka, მიქაელ მოდრეკილი, tr; ; d. 970) was a Georgian calligrapher, writer and scholar of the 10th century. He was also an anthologist, an expert in the liturgy, musicologist and a poet. Life Modrekili was born in Georgian aristocratic family. He mentions his uncle David while growing up. Michael in his works names the Georgian Bagrationi monarchs David III of Tao, Bagrat II of Iberia and Gurgen of Iberia. Hymns and calligraphy His shifts in pitch and note-length marked by neumes shows the musical and textual notations that were of equal importance. Many of his hymns were linked to the period from advent to the days allotted to John Damascene and to the Desert Fathers. Michael Modrekili's Easter hymn composed in 978~88, also commemorates emperor Theodosius the Great. His calligraphy was rich of decor and ornaments. Ioane Minchkhi
Ioane Minchkhi ( ka, იოანე მინჩხი) was a 10th-century Georgian hymnographer and calligrapher.'' პ. ინგოროყვა'', ძველი ქართული პოეზია, თხზულებათა კრებული, ტ. III, თბ. 1965. contemporary to the king George II of Abkhazia. He is considered as author of the entire Sticheron part of the first Georgian "Lenten Triodion". Ioane Minchkhi lived and worked at Mount Sinai. Which explains why a considerable part of his hymns are preserved in Sinaitic manuscripts. Four of Ioane Minchkhi's hymns are included in Iadgari of Mikael Modrekili (Tropologion) (978-988). Pavle Ingorokva
Pavle Ingorokva ( ka, პავლე ინგოროყვა; January 1, 1893 in Poti – November 20, 1983 in Tbilisi) was a Georgian historian, philologist, and public benefactor. He graduated from the University of St. Petersburg (1916). In 1917 he was one of the founders of the Union of Georgian Writers. In 1917-1919 he was a member of the "National Council of Georgia". On May 26, 1918 Ingorokva signed the "Act of Independence of Georgia". In 1921 he protested the occupation of Georgia by the Bolshevist Russia, in 1921-1923 Ingorokva was a member of the group "Shavchokhianebi" ("Blackchokhians"). In 1924-1925, he was the editor-in-chief of the Georgian scientific and literary Journal Kavkasioni ("The Caucasus"). The Journal was closed by the Bolshevik regime.
