Miguel Littín
Miguel Ernesto Littin Cucumides (born 9 August 1942) is a Chilean film director, screenwriter, film producer and novelist. He was born to a Palestinian people, Palestinian father, Hernán Littin and a Greeks, Greek mother, Cristina Cucumides. Career Miguel Littin directed ''Jackal of Nahueltoro, El Chacal de Nahueltoro'' (1969) becoming a figure of the New Latin American Cinema. Littin was exiled in México shortly after Augusto Pinochet came to power in a military coup, which ousted President Salvador Allende, on September 11, 1973. His 1973 film ''The Promised Land (1973 film), The Promised Land'' was entered into the Cannes Film Festival, New York film festival and the 8th Moscow International Film Festival. Palmilla
Palmilla is a Chilean city and commune in Colchagua Province, O'Higgins Region. Demographics According to the 2002 census of the National Statistics Institute, the commune of Palmilla spans an area of and has 11,200 inhabitants (5,825 men and 5,375 women). Of these, 2,088 (18.6%) lived in urban areas and 9,112 (81.4%) in rural areas. The population grew by 3.1% (336 persons) between the 1992 and 2002 censuses. The urban area of Palmilla forms a conurbation with the city of Santa Cruz, to the south, totaling 20,691 inhabitants. Administration As a commune, Palmilla is a third-level administrative division of Chile administered by a municipal council, headed by an alcalde who is directly elected every four years. Pedro Prado
Pedro Prado Calvo (8 October 1886 – 31 January 1952) was a Chilean writer and architect. He won the Chilean National Prize for Literature in 1949. Biography Prado was born to parents Absalón Prado Marín and Laura Calvo on October 8, 1886. His mother died when he was two years old and his father died in 1905. In 1895, Prado was admitted to the Instituto Nacional General José Miguel Carrera, where he studied the humanities until 1903. He also took elective courses in German, accounting, painting, and music. Prado finished the last two years of his college education at the School of Engineering of the University of Chile. He then studied at its School of Architecture for three years without earning a degree. He began to pursue his interest in painting at that time, receiving lessons from Pedro Lira, a prominent Chilean artist of the 19th century. Gabriel José de la Concordia García Márquez (; 6 March 1927 – 17 April 2014) was a Colombian novelist, short-story writer, screenwriter, and journalist, known affectionately as Gabo () or Gabito () throughout Latin America.
