Miguel Francis
Miguel Francis (born 28 March 1995) is a sprinter born in Montserrat, a British overseas territory, who as of 5 April 2017 represents Great Britain internationally. Francis, a resident of Antigua and Barbuda following his evacuation from Montserrat at just 6 months old, competed for that nation prior to April 2017. He competed for that country in the 200 metres at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing narrowly missing the final. In 2016, it was reported that Francis had requested a transfer of allegiance to Great Britain; as a citizen of an overseas territory, Francis is entitled to compete for Great Britain under the same rules as Shara Proctor, Delano Williams and Zharnel Hughes. Unlike these athletes, however, Francis needed to serve a period out of competition, having represented another full national team, Antigua and Barbuda. Montserrat ( ) is a British Overseas Territories, British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean. It is part of the Leeward Islands, the northern portion of the Lesser Antilles chain of the West Indies. 2019 World Athletics Championships
The 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships () was the seventeenth edition of the biennial, global athletics competition organised by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), since renamed World Athletics. It was held between 27 September and 6 October 2019 in Doha, Qatar, at the renovated multi-purpose Khalifa International Stadium, but reduced to 21,000 available seats. 1,772 athletes from 206 teams competed in 49 athletics events over the ten-day competition, comprising 24 events each for men and women, plus a mixed relay. Athletics At The 2015 Pan American Games
Athletics competitions at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto were held from July 19 to 26 at the newly built CIBC Pan Am and Parapan Am Athletics Stadium, located on the campus of York University. The racewalking and marathon events were held on the temporary circuits around the Ontario Place West Channel. The sport of athletics is split into distinct sets of events: track and field events, road running events, and racewalking events. Mirroring the Olympic athletics program, both men and women had very similar schedules of events. Men competed in 24 events and women in 23, as their schedule lacks the 50 km race walk. In addition, both the men's 110 m hurdles and decathlon are reflected in the women's schedule by the 100 m hurdles and heptathlon, respectively. The men's 4 × 200 metres relay at the 2015 IAAF World Relays was held at the Thomas Robinson Stadium on 3 May. On paper this race looked like a Jamaican record attempt with the American team their closest competitor. Jamaica brought all its guns, and strategically held out Usain Bolt and Nickel Ashmeade from the qualifying round. But when it came time for the final, Bolt was nowhere to be seen. A minor hamstring injury earlier in the meet kept the world record holder in the locker room listening to music when the finals were held. The first two legs went as scripted with Jamaica taking a significant lead, but at the second handoff, Jason Livermore seemed completely unprepared to take a handoff, standing flatfooted as Rasheed Dwyer passed him and handed the baton backward.
