Midway Arcade Treasures
''Midway Arcade Treasures'' is a video-game compilation of 24 arcade games, emulated from the original printed circuit board, PCBs. The overall release was developed by Digital Eclipse and issued by Midway Games for the PlayStation 2, Xbox (console), Xbox, GameCube, and Microsoft Windows. Midway followed up the ''Arcade Treasures'' with successive compilations featuring different games: ''Midway Arcade Treasures 2'' in 2004, ''Midway Arcade Treasures 3'' in 2005, the portable ''Midway Arcade Treasures: Extended Play'', and the Windows-exclusive ''Midway Arcade Treasures Deluxe Edition'' in 2006. After Midway's bankruptcy, Warner Bros. owns the rights and released another arcade compilation called ''Midway Arcade Origins'' in 2012 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, which includes 29 select games from ''MAT'' ''1'' and ''2'' plus ''Super Off Road'' from ''3''. Digital Eclipse
Digital Eclipse is an American video game developer based in Emeryville, California. Founded by Andrew Ayre in 1992, the company found success developing commercial emulations of arcade games for Game Boy Color. In 2003, the company merged with ImaginEngine and created Backbone Entertainment. A group of Digital Eclipse employees split off from Backbone to form Other Ocean Interactive, which, in 2015, bought and revived the Digital Eclipse brand. Among its staff is video game preservation specialist Frank Cifaldi. History Digital Eclipse was founded in 1992 by Andrew Ayre, Hans Kim, John Neil, and Howard Fukuda. The company's first offices were opened on a "nondescript, factory-filled" street in Emeryville, California, where Ayre (a native of St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador) had moved following his graduation from Harvard University to live with his girlfriend. Vindicators
''Vindicators'' is a one or two player arcade game released by Atari Games in 1988. Home ports were by Tengen. ''Vindicators'' was not licensed by Nintendo and used an alternate chip to defeat the 10NES lockout system. Ports were planned for the Atari Lynx and Apple IIGS, with the latter even completed, but both were cancelled. The arcade original was released for Windows PCs on ''Midway Arcade Treasures'' (2004). Gameplay The game begins by asking the player(s) to choose a difficulty level, not only making the enemies more difficult and the players weaker, but higher difficulties start the players in a later set of levels (called "galaxies") and with some powerups. The easiest difficulty level starts the player(s) in the first level with no bonuses. ''Rampage'' is a 1986 arcade game by Bally Midway. Players take control of a trio of gigantic monsters trying to survive against onslaughts of military forces. Each round is completed when a particular city is completely reduced to rubble. Warner Bros. currently owns all rights to the property via their purchase of Midway Games. Inspired by monster films, ''Rampage'' spawned five sequels and a film adaptation in 2018.
