Middlesbrough Cricket Club plays at Acklam Park in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England. The club currently plays in the North Yorkshire and South Durham Cricket League (NYSD). History Established in 1855, the club opened Linthorpe Road as a purpose built cricket ground for the club in 1875. Middlesbrough Football Club (MFC) was founded by members of the club a year after the move. MFC began playing at the grounds in 1880 as joint tenants. It was a founding member of the North Yorkshire and South Durham Cricket League (NYSD) in 1893. Acklam Park
Acklam Park is a rugby union and cricket ground located in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England. Initially opened in 1929, the venue has hosted games of Middlesbrough RUFC since the ground's opening in 1929, as well as Middlesbrough Cricket Club since 1932. Yorkshire County Cricket Club also played a number of first class matches at Acklam Park between 1956 and 1996. With a capacity of 5,000, the ground initially cost £1,200 in construction cost upon its opening. History Middlesbrough RUFC purchased a 12-acre field in 1928 for a fee of £1,200. The club paid 13 shillings, club members paid £500 and £800 was loaned from the Rugby Football Union. Middlesbrough played their first games on their present ground in 1929, having played at several previous venues. The North Yorkshire and South Durham Cricket League, commonly abbreviated to NYSD, is the top level competition for recreational club cricket in the north of Yorkshire and south of Durham, England. The league was founded as long ago as 1892, the first competition was held in the following year. The league chose to play an official, if shortened, competition after most ECB Premier Leagues formally cancelled the 2020 season due the COVID-19 pandemic. It is a successful league in the country, in national inter-league competitive cricket, having won the LCC National inter-league competition (latterly known as the Presidents Trophy) on no fewer than 12 occasions. Twenty20 (T20) is a shortened game format of cricket. At the professional level, it was introduced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2003 for the inter-county competition. In a Twenty20 game, the two teams have a single innings each, which is restricted to a maximum of 20 overs. Together with first-class and List A cricket, Twenty20 is one of the three current forms of cricket recognised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as being at the highest international or domestic level. Middlesbrough Football Club ( ) is a professional football club in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England, which competes in the EFL Championship, the second tier of English football. Formed in 1876, they have played at the Riverside Stadium since 1995. The club played at Ayresome Park for 92 years, from 1903 to 1995. Grove Hill, Middlesbrough
Grove Hill is an area of the Middlesbrough's Longlands and Beechwood ward in the Borough of Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England. It is a historic part of the North Riding of Yorkshire. The area's main shopping area is off Marton Road at the junction with Marton Burn Road and Belle Vue. The majority of the area was within the civil parish of Marton before the area and Marton itself became unparished areas of the town. Marton Grove Primary School served the area for 83 years before its closure in 2011 and demolition in 2012. They are also shops on the other end of Marton Burn Road, at the roundabout with Eastborne, Valley, Bishopton and York roads. These shops formerly had the Palladium cinema, demolished in 1960. Since the early 2000s, the area was subject to a regeneration scheme which saw many houses demolished. Brenton Anthony Parchment (born 24 June 1982) is a Jamaican former professional cricketer. Born in St Elizabeth, he was the West Indies under-19 captain on the side's tour of England in 2001. This team was the only West Indies Under-19 team to beat England at home.
