Middle Lake is a lake at an elevation of . It is along the main branch of the Clinton River. The deep lake lies within Independence Township in Oakland County, Michigan. Middle Lake connects downstream to Dollar Lake to the south and upstream to Deer Lake to the north. Cemetery Lakeview Cemetery sits on the western shore of Middle Lake. The cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries in northern Oakland County and many of the original settlers and developers of Independence Township are buried there. Middle Lake was formerly named Cemetery Lake until the 1960s. Independence Township, Michigan
Independence Township is a charter township of Oakland County, Michigan, Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 36,686 at the 2020 United States census, 2020 census. Clinton River
The Clinton River is a river in southeastern Michigan in the United States. It is named in honor of DeWitt Clinton, who was governor of New York from 1817 to 1823. The main branch of the river rises from wetlands and coldwater tributaries from within Independence, Brandon and Springfield Townships. A series of dams create a number of small lakes west of Pontiac, the last of which is Crystal Lake. The river is piped under downtown Pontiac, re-emerging to the east of downtown. Deer Lake is an all-sports, 137-acre lake along the main branch of the Clinton River. The lake, with a maximum depth of 63 feet, lies within Independence Township in Oakland County, Michigan. Deer Lake is one of the first lakes the Clinton River flows through, and the first lake in Independence Township, after the river rises in Springfield Township. The Clinton River enters Deer Lake on the north end just after it passes under I-75.
