''Microsoft Golf 1999 Edition'' is a golf video game developed by American studio Friendly Software and published by Microsoft for Microsoft Windows. It was released in the United States in late 1998. It is the fifth game in the ''Microsoft Golf'' series, following ''Microsoft Golf 1998 Edition'', which was also developed by Friendly Software. Some critics noted similarities between the game and its predecessor. It was praised for its variety of options, although critics believed it was not as good as other golfing games. The game was the best-selling computer sports game of 1999, with 154,741 copies sold. It was followed by ''Microsoft Golf 2001 Edition''. Hobe Sound is an unincorporated area and census-designated place (CDP) in Martin County, Florida, United States, located along Florida's Treasure Coast. David Feherty
David William Feherty (born 13 August 1958) is a former professional golfer and current golf broadcaster. As a touring professional he won five European Tour events, competed at the Open Championship twice ( 1989 and 1994), and played on Europe's 1991 Ryder Cup team. Late in his career he joined the PGA Tour. Since retiring, he has worked as a television personality; from 1997 through 2015 Feherty served as an on-course reporter for the ''PGA Tour on CBS''. Gimme (golf)
In golf, a gimme is a shot that the other players agree can count automatically without being played. When a player has only a very short putt left to play, other players may grant a gimme (i.e., one stroke is counted), but the ball is not played. A gimme is a time-saving convention under the tacit assumption that the putt would not have been missed, e.g., when the ball is within a few inches of the hole. Gimmes are not allowed by the rules in stroke play, though the practice is common in casual matches. However, in match play, either player may formally ''concede'' a stroke, a hole, or the entire match at any time, and this may not be refused or withdrawn. A mulligan is a second chance to perform an action, usually after the first chance went wrong through bad luck or a blunder. Its best-known use is in golf, whereby it refers to a player being allowed, only informally, to replay a stroke, although that is against the formal rules of golf. The term has also been applied to other sports, games, and fields generally. The origin of the term is unclear. Stroke play, also known as medal play, is a scoring system in the sport of golf in which the total number of strokes is counted over one or more rounds of 18 holes. In stroke play, the winner is the player who has taken the fewest strokes over the course of the round, or rounds. Although most professional tournaments are played using the stroke play scoring system, some notable exceptions exist. In match play, the player, or team, earns a point for each hole in which they have bested their opponents.
