''Micromyrtus redita'' is species of the flowering plant in the family Myrtaceae and is endemic to the south-west of Western Australia. It is a densely branched shrub with narrowly oblong to elliptic leaves, reddish sepals and white or pink petals. Description ''Micromyrtus redits'' is a densely-branched shrub. Its leaves are narrowly oblong to elliptic, long, about wide on a petiole about long with 2 to 6 prominent glands on the lower surface. The flowers are arranged in upper leaf axils on a peduncle long and are about in diameter. The 5 sepals are long and wide and reddish. The petals are widely spreading when in flower, white or tinged with pink, long and the anthers are about long and the style is about long. Barbara Lynette Rye is an Australian botanist born in 1952. Barbara Rye has been associated with the Western Australian Herbarium, where her work as a taxonomist has been the source of many new descriptions of plants. The number of taxa recorded as described by women authors is historically very low, of the terrestrial plant species this amount is around three percent, yet in analysis published in 2019 Rye is amongst the ten most prolific women taxonomists. Born in Perth, Western Australia, she spent her childhood investigating the local flora and fauna of the Southwest Australia region, a biodiversity hotspot, and later began studies at the University of Western Australia. Wongan Hills
Wongan Hills is a range of low flat-topped hills in the Avon Wheatbelt bioregion of Western Australia. It is located at , in the Shire of Wongan–Ballidu. History The range was first recorded in 1836 by Surveyor General of Western Australia John Septimus Roe. The area was settled by the 1900s (decade), and in 1911 the town of Wongan Hills was established and named after the range. Etymology "Wongan" is derived from the Indigenous Australian name "wangan-katta", "wankan" and "woongan". "Katta" is known to mean "hill", but the meaning of "wongan" is uncertain. It may be related to "kwongan", an indigenous word for sandplain, or "whispering", in which case "wongan katta" would mean "whispering hills". The Avon Wheatbelt is a bioregion in Western Australia. It has an area of . It is considered part of the larger Southwest Australia savanna ecoregion. ''Nuytsia'' is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by the Western Australian Herbarium. Myrtaceae, the myrtle family, is a family of dicotyledonous plants placed within the order Myrtales.
